Explanation of Terms

Sensitivity (Lux)Quantifies the camera's low-light performance.Measured in Lux using a lens aperture of f1.2,

the value represents the minimum scene illumination required by the camera to

produce a useable video output.

Resolution (TV Lines)Describes the ability of the camera to discriminate

fine detail in a scene. The higher the number ofTV Lines, the better the resolution of the camera.

AI (Auto Iris)Dedicated connector and reference signal for

Auto Iris lenses.

DD (Direct Drive)Dedicated connector and circuitry for

Direct Drive lenses.

DD LevelAllows the lens drive level to be adjusted for DD

type lenses.

BLC (Backlight Compensation) Automatically compensates for the silhouetting

effect of a backlit subject.

BLC Window (Back Light Comp.)User selectable areas for BLC control.

EI (Electronic Iris)Feature to automatically adjust shutter duration to

compensate for fluctuations in ambient light.

Day/Night Cameras

Discover 601 Box CameraThe Discover 600 series fixed cameras are the ideal choicefor applications requiring 540 TVL to provide super, high resolution images and true colour rendition. Dependingupon the scene and lighting conditions, the camera offersAWB, AGC, AES, and BLC controls which you can set to optimise image performance. The Night-Saver modeautomatically switches the cameras to B/W in scenes withless lighting to provide you with better low-light detail performance.

These cameras feature internal and phase adjustable line-lock options for “roll-free” switching. The cameras areavailable with 24 VAC/12 VDC voltages to meet a variety ofapplication requirements. A 230 VAC mains version is alsoavailable in a PAL format.

The Discover 601 series cameras offer the same features asthe 600 series but also include a moving mechanical IR cut filter which provides True Day/Night functionality.

For scenes with typical lighting such as daylight or lit indoorapplications, the camera provides a 540 TVL super, highresolution image. When light levels drop, the camera automatically removes its IR cut filter and switches fromcolour to B/W to capture images in very low light.

Both series of cameras are extremely reliable, easy-to-install, and designed for use in a wide variety of applications. These cameras are ideally suited for use inareas where high performance in a variety of lighting conditions is required.

HD stands for High Definition, and SDI stands for Serial Digital Interface – a family of standardised, broadcast qualitydigital interfaces using BNC connectors. The standard was adopted by the SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture andTelevision Engineers). Because of its origins in broadcast, the definition and picture quality of HD-SDI footage is notice-ably higher than a standard analogue signal. The technology has now been adopted by the CCTV sector, because it hasbeen designed with the sole purpose of providing Megapixel, High Definition footage over standard co-ax cable, it isperfectly suited to CCTV, where the majority of existing systems use co-ax.

HD-SDI is significantly easier for experienced CCTV installers to get to grips with.

Compared with IP, installers can install HD-SDI straight away with next to no training. There is also very little risk of get-ting in to complications when installing it, as long as installers are already experienced in installing analogue CCTV.

Please note HD-SDI cameras are ONLY compatible with HD-SDI recorders.
