What is Connect? When students graduate from college, they often leave having developed lifelong friendships and memories…this is CONNECT. CONNECT is designed to be a place where you can build relationships with your peers, and communicate with your Counselor, and Student Success Coach with ease. If CONNECT were a physical building, it would be comprised of a lounge, where students could converse about challenges and success, surrounded by student resource offices open to all students. Experience how fun college can be by engaging in CONNECT.

benefitsWhen you access CONNECT you will immediately have access to your Counselor and Student Success Coach. You will also have access to your education plan and degree worksheet, which is critical when conversing with your counselor about future courses. CONNECT also provides you with direct links to vital resources such as the Multicultural Center, Veteran Affairs, Tutoring Center, and other student success offices. There is even a forum for you to interact with your peers about current events or coursework. This is a great opportunity that you do not want to miss out on. 3

What is the biggest challenge students face when considering receiving tutoring?More often than not, students who tend to avoid tutoring view tutoring as remedial. This is not the case. Tutoring is used to review class instruction, and prepare for future exams.

What are some of the benefits of using Peer-to-peer tutoring? One of the greatest benefits with our Peer-to-Peer tutoring program is that when a stu-dent schedules an appointment, they have the added benefit of knowing that their tutor has not only taken that subject, but recieved a 3.5 or above in it.

What are some of the subjects that are offered at the tutoring center? The SFCC Tutoring Center offers a wide variety of subject areas such as:

- Art - Accounting - Economics - Astronomy - Chemistry - Business - Management - History - French

And many more! For a full listing, please access their website.

Besides face-to-face tutoring sessions, what other options are available to students?

For those students who are online, are just unable to make it into the Tutoring Center, they offer a variety of online tutoring opportunities such as, Skype, Blackboard Collaborate, Khan Academy, and/or Cranium Cafe.

What if a student cannot make it in for tutoring?

what are the hours of operation?

If a tutor is not available for a given subject, the student can access the eTutoring Con-sortium. The consortium is make of a large number of schools who offer online tutoring throughout the nation. SFCC does its part by offering writing tutoring in the consortium.

The SFCC Tutoring Center is open five days a week with limited hours on Friday, and tu-toring sessions are by appointment only. To view the tutoring schedule, you will need to access the link below or call (509) 533-3934.
