InTrODUCTIOn

SportsProjectOpenFunFootballSchoolsisorganizedbytheDanishnon-governmentalorganizationCCPA/CrossCulturesProjectAssociation/incooperationwiththeNFF/NorwegianFootballAssociation,andincooperationwithFABiH,MinistryofCultureandSports,MinistryofRefugeesandDisplacedPersonsandmunicipalities,whoprovidethelocalpartofthefinancingofthisproject..

OpenFunFootballSchoolsisahumanitarianprojectthatusesfungamesandpedagogical“FunFootball”conceptasatooltostimulatetheprocessofdemocracy,peace,stabilityandsocialcohesioninSouthEasternEurope,andforre-establishingfriendshipsandsportsco-operationbetweenpopulationgroups(municipalities,footballclubs,primaryschools,leaders,coaches,etc..).

Thus,weseeourOpenFunFootballSchoolsas:- Thetoolforbringingteachers,coachesandchildrenfromdifferentethnicandsocialbackgroundsto

thecommongameandthusbridgingtheexistingdivisionsandpromotesocialcohesion.- Projecttopromotethefundamentalprinciplesofsportforall,thatgiveschildrenandtheircoaches

afeelingoffriendship,cooperation,mutualunderstandingandpsychologicalhealth- Buildingcapacityofhundredsofqualifiedtrainersthroughtrainingtheminourspecific“Fun

Football”concept,whichisbasedonthepedagogicaldemocraticprinciples.- ProjectpromotesGrassrootsfootballandthebasicprinciplesofSportsforall.- Provisionofsportsequipmentforallclubs,schoolsandinstitutionsinworkingwithyoungpeople

andyouthfootballdevelopmentinBiH.

OpenFunFootballSchoolswerefirstpresentedinthewartornBiHin1998.Thatyeartheprojectwasimplementedin12municipalities-thenproclaimedasopencities,frombothBiHentities.During2000,theprojecthasbeenextendedtoMacedonia,andthenSerbiaandMontenegro,Croatia,Georgia,ArmeniaandAzerbaijan,andsince2005toJordan,SyriaandLebanon.From2006.activitiesstratedinMoldova,Kosovo,andthe2009alsoininIraq.

Intheperiod1998-2009,intheBalkanregion,atotalof169multi-ethnicseminars,coursesandworkshopsinvolving15235people,leaders,trainersandinstructorswasorganized.Ifyouwouldputtogetherallthedaysspentattheseseminars,thenwecansaythatitisfulltimeof632days.Ofthetotalamount,169workshops,49seminarswereheldinseveralplacesandhotelsinBiH.Inthisperiod,about3760leaders,coachesandinstructorshavegonethroughoureducationalprocess-Funfootball,andorganizationofOpenfunfootballschools,orGrassrootsfootball,asUEFAcallsit.Manyyearsofeducation,formedateamof16INSTRUCTORSofFunFootballinBiHanditissignificantteamintheprocessofeducatingleadersandcoachesinourseminars.WerealizedasuccesfullcooperationwiththeFABiH,throughourjoinedactivitiesinGrassrootsfootball,aswellaswithCenterforeducationwithintheFABiH.GrassrootscharterwithUEFAhasbeensigned,and,itdefinestheinclusionofallGrassrootsfootballactivitiesinBiHandpresentationofthosetotheUEFA.Intheperiodof1998to2009,inBiH,218Openfunfootballschools,29streetsportsactivities,9oneday-displayfootballschools,and14projects-FOOTBALLINSCHOOLSCHILDRENASKYOUTO,alargenumberoffootballtournamentsforchildren,and93NewNordiscCupcompetitionwereorganized.Alloftheseeventsinvolvedsome64940boysandgirlsfrom7-12years.Itissignificanttonotethatthepercentageofgirlsparticipantsisaround30%.Withthesechildrenworkedabout5154leaders,trainersandinstructors,andasignificantnumberofassistants,parents,staffandvolunteers,duringtheOpenfunfootballschollsandotherevents.

Untilnow,the5154leadersandtrainersinBiHreceivedacompletesportsequipment,asacompensationfortheirworkwithchildreninthisproject,andtheprojecthas,inadditiontonumerousothersportsgearandequipmentforthedevelopmentofyouthfootball,providedanddistributedtoparticipantsintheprojectalsofollowingitems:• 13024-footballsnr.5• 31242-footballsnr.4• 26312-plasticcones• 25605-markershirts• 68510,jerseys,varietyofotherequipment,toolsforworkingwithchildrenandequipmentfor

Thisyeartoo,Instructor”sandTrainer”sseminarsareheldonaregionalconceptbasis,andLeader”sseminarineachcountry.Completeeducationofthestaffhasbeenpreparedandheldbyinstructors,withhelpofexpertsfromDenmark.

ThegoaloftheseseminarsistofamiliarizeleadersandtrainerswithpedagogicalFunFootballconcept,aswellaswith“Scandinaviansportsmodel”,wichischaracterizedbystronglocalbase,democraticprincipals,parentssupportandbasicprincipal“sportforall”.

Itisveryimportanttoustocreateanetworkofmotivatedanddedicatedtrainersandleaders,whowanttojoinusinorganizingfootballforallchildren,nomatteroftheirtalent,aswellassocial,ethnicandanyotherbackground.Onourseminars,wepracticefootballgames,westudyqualityandwetry,usingoureducationalFunFootballconcept,tocontributeinmakingchildrenhappyandgoodplayers,whowillloveplayingwiththeball.Ourtrainer”seducationincludesthree-dayseminar,five-daypracticalworkatOpenFunFootballSchoolandintheend,ourtrainedInstructorsgiveafeedbacktoeachtrainer,asfarastrainingchildrenisconcerned.

Wehad1Instructor”s,5Leader”sand14Trainer”sseminarsinRegionthisyear.BosniaandHerzegovinahostedoneLeader”sandthreeTrainer”sseminars,andoneEducationalwork-groupworkshop.SeminarswereheldinBuzim,Rijecani-ModricaandKiseljak(forleaders),onJahorina(trainers)andinVogo{}a(workshop).AlloftheseminarswereheldunderthemotoHOWDOIBECOMEABETTERFOOTBALLTRAINERFORCHILDREN?Overall368leaders,trainers,instructorsandstafffrom20OFFSparticipatedineducadionalprocessduringmentionedseminarsandworkshops.

Whathasbeenplanned,butnotyetrealizedisjoinedleaderandtrainereducationbyCCPAOFFSandFABiH-EducationcenterandgainingClicenceforallseminarparticipants.

Thishasbeena12thyearofimplementationofCCPAOFFSprojectinBiH.Thisyeartoo,wehaveorganized20footballschoolsforgirlsandboysaged7-12.Overall4335childrenhaveparticipated,ofwich1316aregirls.

TheregionofCantonofMiddleBosniahasagainhostedaschoolparticipatedby406girls,andthisregionleadsinfemalefootballdevelopment.

FootballschoolZenica-Nemila-VisokohasagainincludedchildrenwithspecialneedsfromChildren”sinstituteinZenica,inplayingandfun.

OFFSinBosanskaKrupahostedchildrenfromSapna,andspecificthingaboutthisschoolswasthatallthechildrenwereaccomodatedinatentcampduringfivedaysschool,andtherehavebeen10Italianvolunttersactivelyinvolvedinworkingwithchildren.

OurOFFSinTravnik,Srebrenica,Pra~aandIlidàhavebeenvisitedbyUEFAfilmcrew.Theyfilmedshortmoviesfromtheseschools,tobepresentedduringbreaksonmatchesofEuropeanchampion”sLeague.Also,wehadvisitsofourfootballLegends,MirsadFazlagi},VahidiniHusrefMusemi}andBulendBi{~evi},whogaveinterwievsforthefilms.

WehadalsoaverysignificantvisittoourOFFSinIlidà,byourfootballlegendsIvicaOsimandSergejBarbarez.ThishappenonAugust12th,whenwe,togetherwiththeUNVolunters,celebratedInternationalZouthday.

Theirpresencewasspeciallysignificantandincentivetochildren,andtheirapprovalofthewayweworkwithchildren,inthisway,meansalottousall.

Kid’sFestivalisthelargestindependenteventforyouthinSouthEasternEurope.Since2004.,over40.000childrenfromalloverBosniaandHerzegovinaparticipateinthementionedfestivaleveryyear.

TheverysuccessoftheKid’sFestivalisthehugenumberofchildrenparticipantswhocometothisevent,asguestsofSarajevo,whichisanimportantstepintheprocessofbuildingtrustamongyoungpeopleinBiH.

Kid’sFestBiHisnowasocialevent-anattractivecombinationofentertainmentandeducation.Kid”sFestivalhasbeenawardedtheprestigiousnominations“ProjectofculturalinterestfortheCityofSarajevo”.Thevarietyof30activities,providesinteractiveeducationthroughentertainment:thecreativeandeducationalworkshops,internationalartistsfromaroundtheworld,magicians,dancers,artists,balloons,clowns,theEmbassystands,videocornerArte&PrixJeunesse,OSCEcorner,OpenFunFootballSchoolsBHplaceforfunfootball,aswellasfilmscreeningsforchildrenparticipants.Thisyear’sfestivalmottowas“AlldifferentandallSAME“inordertosupporttheinitiativesoftheCouncilofEurope.

Great“colorfulparade”,which,acommpaniedwiththesoundof40drumsofadrumbandpassedthroughthecitycenter-openedthesixthKid”sFestivalinSarajevo.

ThejointappearanceatthisgreateventforchildrenfromalloverBosnia-Herzegovinahad:- EmbassyofDenmark- TheRoyalNorwegianEmbassy- CCPAOFFSBiHSarajevo

AtstandsofembassiesofDenmarkandNorway,childrenwereabletohavefunandexpresscreativityusingLegoandmakingtheirownworldofimagination,todrawtheflagofDenmarkandNorway,andtogetvarietyofmaterialsandcandyfromthesecountriesaspresents.

OnJune15th,from14:00-17:00,ourgamesparticipatedabout450boysandgirls,withwhomworkedfourleadersandtrainers.

Childrenfromourstations,aswellasotherparticipants,wereintroducedtoprojectCCPAOFFSinBiHandtheregionandweregivenagiftofschool:shirtsandbracelets.

CCPAOFFSthisyearorganizedspecialseminarforthedevelopmentofwomen”sfootballintheregion,andFACroatiaandofficeCCPAOFFSfromZagreborganizedaFestival-tournamentforwomenaspartoftheseminar.FromBosniaandHerzegovina,participated38femaleclubmembers:- DPC“SFK2000”-Sarajevo- ŽNK“Mladost”-N.Travnik,Nevi}Polje- ŽNK“Breza“-Breza

CCPAOFFSinstructorAmelaTrbovi}andgroupofcoachesattendedtheseminar,whichhadthetopic“Thesituationinwomen”sfootball-plansforfurtherdevelopment”.

ItwasemphasizedthattheCCPA-OFFS,byorganizingschoolsandincludingalargenumberofgirls(30%)hasthegreatestaffectandcontributionongirlsingeneraltobeengagedintrainingfootball.Therearegirlsgathering,participatinginOFFS,traininginnewgirlsclubs,butwhenitistimetodeveleopandmoveontocompetitions,problemsappear,mostlyaboutthemeansoffinancingtheseclubs.

SBKRegionandthemunicipalitiesofTravnik,NoviTravnik,Vitez,DonjiVakufandGornjiVakuf/Uskopljeagainweretheorganizersofparticularlybeautifulandinterestingschool-inwhichparticipatedonlythegirls.Overalltherewere406girlsfrom15clubsandprimaryschools,with30leaders,coachesandassistants.

Inallactivitieswehadwiththegirlswecanbesatisfiedthattheparticipationpercentageis30%,butwecannotbesatisfiedwiththeparticipationofgirlsandwomen,whenitcomestoinstructors,leadersandcoaches.

Thereisapercentageofrepresentationof12.5%aninouractionplans,wewanttoraisethispercentageto20-25%,

VaresisasmalltowninthemiddleofBosnia,formerlyknownforit’smineralresources-coal,ironandsteel,aswellasforit’sfootballclub.

Longafterthewarevents,thefootballclubsandthesportingeneraldidn”texist,especiallygirlshadnoopportunitytopracticesports.

Guidedbyourdesiretocomeineverypartofcountry,toeachchild,wecametoVaresandencounteredagoodmayorandaformerfootballplayerImamagi},withwhichwestartedtoworkandorganizeOpenfunfootballschoolsforallboysandgirls.

Thesedays,wereceivedaletterofonegirls’mother,whoisaparticipantofourschoolsinVares.

hopingthatsome“feedback”fromaparentiswelcome,IwouldliketoexpressthemosthonestgratitudeforVarestownisoneofthe“lackyones”toparticipateingreatOFFSadventure!

Iamamotherof12,andmydaughterhasparticipatedinOFFSsincetheyear2005.Shehasbeenonlysecondgradewhenshefirstparticipated,andIhadsomeconcernsinregardtotravelingtopartneringcitiesor“beingawaywholedayplayingfootball...:)))”...butwhenIfirstwitnessedhowthisisorganizedandwhatchildrendo-therehasbeennomotherintheworldmoreproudthanIwasforhavingachildinvolved!!!

Being12mychildis“outgrown”mostofhergroup,sheisnottheonlyone-therearemanywhorefuseto“lettheirseatfree”forsomeyoungerchildtoparticipate!Thisisagreatsignofawonderfultimesheexperiencesthere,andoneofthewarmestspotsinourmindwhenthinkingaboutthegreatfunthatsummergenerallybrings...

Iworkasateacherinlocalprimaryschool,andIknowhow“footballculture”isdevelopedhere.OFFSbringsanotherperspectivetoit,itisnotaboutfootball,itisaboutallthegreatestthingsthatonlycouldbeseenthroughtheeyesofachildren.Ofcourse,Worldwouldbemuchbetterplaceifthethingslikethiscouldbeorganizedevenmoreoften.

OntheoccasionofInternationalYouthDay,theUNVolunteersandtheCCPA-OFFSorganizedspecialsportsactivitiesfor300boysandgirls,20leadersandcoachesandmanyvolunteersinIlidza.ItwasadayofFunFootball-named“COPACABOSNIA”,whichistraditionallyheldforthereyearsnow.

AgreatsupportofthiseventgavemunicipalityIlidza,UNVolunteersandvolunteersfromclubsandelementaryschoolsIlidza,VogoscaandEasternIlidza.

Aspecialstationcalled“Thingstalk”wasorganized,wherechildren,withtheassistanceofvolunteers,madefigures,objectsandtoys,whichalsohadartisticvalue,allbythingsconsideredgarbage.

Bythiswewantedtoshowtheneedtopreserveecologicallycleanenvironment-byregularandorganizedcollectionandsubsequentuseofwastematerials.

FunFootballGame,afunchildren”sworkshopswerevisitedbytheformercaptainoftheBiHfootballteamSergejBarbarez,whowasveryhappywiththecoordinationofFunFootballGamesandchildren”scareforacleanenvironment.

TheprojectThingstalkisorganizedbytheCCPA,theDanishmunicipalitiesBellrupandHeerupMuseum.

Thingstalkisaninterestingglobalprojectforchildrenfrom10-12yearsaboutspreadingawarenessinrelationtoclimatechange.Schoolclassesthroughouttheworldareinvitedtoworkonclimate.Practicalartisticdemandistoproduce,fromwasteandoldthingsfromthehomes,toys,artobjects,andsowhatwouldotherwisebethrown,willbegivenanewlife.Childrendevelopinacreativesense,createsculpturesofwasteandso,theylet“Thingstalk”abouttheirideasandvisions,whiletheyareeducatedabouttheoriginofmaterials,recyclingandotherwaystopreservetheenvironment.

Theaimistouseartandimaginationofkidstofindnewandunusualwaystoapplyandlearnaboutclimateissues.

Theprojecthasprovidedafulleducationalmaterial,whichcanbedownloadedforfreeontheofficialwebsiteoftheprojectwww.thingstalk.net.Guidecanbedownloadedforteachersandforstudents.Afterarealizedproject,eachclasscanregisterandpresenttheirdoingsonawebpage.Childrencanalsolearnabouttheoriginandusageandrecyclingofvariousmaterials,suchascopper,wood,plastics,etc.

InBosniaandHerzegovina,theprojectwasimplementedthisyearinseveralOpenFunFootballSchools.

Artefactswerepresentedinthephotogalleryofofficialwebsiteoftheproject.Finalofthisyear”sactivitiesundertheprojectwasheldattheCreativeChildren”sCopenhagenclimatecamp,wichattendedparticipantsoftheworkshopfromBosanskaKrupa.

CreativeChildren”sclimatecampprovidedfor225boysandgirlsfrom11countries,tocreateworksofartundertheguidanceofalargenumberofartists(KristianBust/artist,JarlEgeberg/Illustrator,MartinFabricius/musician,PeterFønss/dancerandothers).Theresultoftheirfive-dayactivitiesistheworkof“newworld”thatispresentedtoleadersofcountriesduringtheCOP15Summitonclimate.

Itisplannedtocontinuetheimplementationofthisprojectinthe2010,anditistobeimplementedaspartofour“tailoredschools”.

BosanskaKrupaisatownthatparticipatesinprojectformanyyearsnow,andthisyearhostedtwoschoolswithinterestingparticipantsandsignificantresults.

ParticipantswerealsoItalianvolunteerswhoorganizedthecampandstayintentsforallchildren.Variousadditionalworkshopswereorganized-“Thingstalk”,artsection,healthyfood-healthylivingandecosection.

Fourboyswiththeirleader,fromBosanskaKrupatraveledinCopenhagentoparticipatethecreativechildren”sclimatecamp,whichisorganizedbyCCPAandtheDanishmunicipalitiesBelleruppriortoCOP-15-WorldConferenceonclimate.BoysfromUnarivershowedtheircreativity,andtogetherwith225boysandgirlsfrom11countriesand15artist,theybuilttheirversionofthe“newworld”,whichwaspresentedtostateleadersonCOP15conference.

BoysAsmirZuti},SinanVElagi},OmerHadzic,ArminVelagi}andtheircoachAlmirSpahichadthefullsupportofthemunicipalityofBosanskaKrupa,andMunicipalitymayor,Mr.ArminHalitovi}gavethemsportssuits.

Also,uponcompletionofOFFS,MayoralongwithinstructorCCPAEmirSedicvisitedtheprimaryschool“JEZERSKI”andthelocalchildrenandteachersweregivenCCPAOFFSBALLS.Studentswereinformedthattheywill,againnextyear,beparticipantsofOpenfunfootballschools.

Inthisyear”sactivitiesinorganizationandcommemorationofNovember14thWorldDayagainstdiabetes,weworkedtogetherwithNovoNordiskrepresentativeofficeinBiH.

Wefoundacommoninterest,toincreaseawarenessamongchildrenandadultsofthegrowingproblemofdiabetesandincreaseofthenumberofpatients,especiallyamongyoungpeopleandchildren.

“Changingthefutureofdiabetes”wasthemottooftheactivitiesthatweorganizedtogether.Healthyfood,propernutritionandmovementarethepreventionofalldisorders,aswellasdiabetes,andthereforewehadoureducationandpracticalworkdevotedtothesefacts.

Togetherwithdr.EnisaŠe}erovi},NovoNordiskrepresentativeofBosniaandHerzegovina,onJune27thJ,wevisitedacampinLjubovija,wheregatheredaboutfortymembersoftheassociationofdiabetespatientsfromtheBrckoDistrict.

SymbolthattheInternationalDiabeticFederationselectedformarkingsucheventsisabluecircle.Thebluecirclebecauseitisasymboloflife,landandhealth.

Thisday,November14th,weorganizedourtraditionalNovoNordiskCupin26locations(municipalities)inBiH,whichwereattendedby2230boysandgirlsinourproject,145leadersandover700parents.

Amongparticipantsinacommongameandentertainmentwerechildrenandtheelderly,diabetics.Thisactivitywassupportedbythemunicipalities,clubs,schoolsandthemedicalinstitutions.Doctorsandothermedicalstaff,andourleadersintroducedtoallparticipantsthediabetes-likedisease,themanneroftreatmentandlivingwiththediseaseaswellastheneedformovement-runningandexercise,withthepreparationanduseofhealthyfoods.

Withintheseactivities,togetherwithNovoNordiskomBiHandAssociationofsufferingfromdiabetesinSarajevo,TuzlaandBrcko-district,weorganizedwalksandofsufferingandthosewhoarenot,expertlecturesandexhibitionsofhealthyfoodandeducationalliterature.Therewereover300participantsfromtheprojectCCPA-OFFS,ourleaders,coachesandassistants-volunteers.

Oneoftheseprogramsisprovidingeducationabouttherisksfromresidualminesandotherweapons.

Throughthecreationanddistributionofeducationalmaterialstoallparticipantsofthisyear”sOpenFunFootballSchoolsinBosniaandHerzegovina,weapproachedalltheproblemsandwaysofreactinguponfindingresidualminesorotherweapons.

Attheappropriateposters,whichweregiventoeachchildonOFFS,ourprominentplayersDèko,Supi}andHrgovi}andcoachBlazevic,saytochildrentobecarefullandwarnthemofneedforplaythathaspositivethoughtsandideas.Eachmunicipalityandclubwhoparticipatedinthisproject,wasrewardedwith15footballballs.

InAugust,threeregularandoneextraordinaryOpenfunfootballschools,weremoviesetforshootingshortfilmsonOFFSandGrassrootsfootballactivitiesinBiH.FilmswererecordedbytheteamhiredbyUEFA,inordertoshowOFFSactivitiesinBiH,whiletellingstoriesaboutmulti-ethnicity,women”sfootball,thedevelopmentofdialogueandcoexistenceinthewar-tornareas.

Theteamvisitedtheschools:Travnik,NoviTravnik-Vitez-DonjiVakufandGornjiVakuf/Uskoplje,KalesijaSrebrenica-Bratunac,Pale-Pra~a-SokolacandIlidza-Butmir-Hrasnica-Doglodi-Vogosca.

Shotsweretakenonlocations:Travnik,Srebrenica,andPra~aIlidza.

WhenshootinginIlidza,schoolwasvisitedbythelegendsoftheBosnian-HerzegovinianfootballIvicaOsim,VahidinMusemi},MirsadFazlagic,HusrefMusemi}andBulendBiscevic,whoalsogaveinterwievsforthefilms.

InTravnik,shotswererecordedwith406girlswhoplayfootball.OnthesubjectoffootballdevelopmentspokeinstructorsofCCPASamiraHuremandAmelaTrbovi},andabouttheimportanceofthiseventfortheCentralBosniaCantontalkedDeputyMinisterofMinistryofSportSBK.

InSrebrenica,theteamhadtheopportunitytoshootchildrenfromdifferentethnicbackgrounds,whoplaytogetheronthefieldandinterviewinstructorsandtrainersofCCPA.

ShotsrecordedinPra~aalsotoldthestoryofthedestructionofinter-entity,socialandotherbarriers,bothamongchildrenandamongtheleadersandtrainers.InterviewedwereinstructorsNenadĐapi}andVehadIbrisimovic,andtheirsons,formerparticipantsofOFFS-nowcoaches,whoareexpectedtogiveoutalot.

AspecialinterviewwasgivenbyProjectDirectorAndersLevinsen.
