Five people were chosen to create the bedsit, hotel lobby, home office, the bedroom and bathroom, none of whom were interior designers. The five were Shay Healy, the composer and broadcaster, who was asked to decorate a bedroom. Robert O'Byrne, columnist, who was assigned to design a bathroom, the architect Alfred Cochrane designed a hotel lobby, with Rachael Chidlow creating a "An experience not to be missed" is how one visitor described the recent "Interiors" exhibition at the Crafts Council of Ireland Gallery in Dublin. SKILLS COURSE,CRESCENT WORKSHOP,

CASTLE YARD,KILKENNY.

For the last ten years the

Crafts Council of Ireland has

been running the Business/

Design Skills Course at the

Crescent Workshop. The

course imparts business skills

and aids people to develop

and perfect their craft design

and production skills.

The Crafts Council is running

an open day at the Crescent

on Saturday 27th November

(10 a.m. - 6 p.m.). This is

open to graduates of craft dis-

ciplines and all those who have

served an apprenticeship. For

CRAFTS COUNCIL

1992 AGM

The 16th Annual General

Meeting of the Crafts Council

of Ireland was held at the

Dublin office on 9th

September, 1993. This

meeting was preceded by a

presentation by Patricia Quinn

on the development of Temple

Bar and the proposed craft

centre. The chairman outlined

the year's activities and

particularly the excellent

Showcase results which were

back to the high levels of

1990. In addition to a vibrant

gallery programme the Crafts

Council's training

programmes have continued

with the Pottery Skills Course in

Thomastown continuing for a

3rd year. He also remarked on

the Business/Design Skills

Course's continuing success

with the 90 craft businesses

being set up by graduates of

the Business/Design Skills

Course being testimony to the

success of the programme.

Thanks were extended to the

Council's funding bodies who

make the activities possible

such as the IDA and the EC for

the training under ESF, SERtec

and LEDU. An Bord Trachtala

was also thanked for its close

links with the Crafts Council

particularly in relation to

Showcase Dublin. Kevin

O'Dwyer and Mel Bradley

(vice chair), both of whom

retired recently, were thanked

for all their commitment,

service and advice to the

Crafts Council whilst on the

Board of Management.

CRAFTS COUNCILANNOUNCEMENTS

will hold a one-day Workshop

on stand presentation of

Textiles on Tuesday 30th

November at the R.D.S..

Participation at the Workshop

will be limited to twenty five

and will be on a first come,

first served basis.

competition to develop artistic

creativity in the field of
