SCRIPTURES
April 30, 2017– 3rd Sunday of Easter __ First Reading: After the Holy Spirit descends upon the
apostles, Peter preaches with great enthusiasm to both Jews and Christians. He recalls for them in vivid terms the miracles and wonders that Jesus performed. (ACTS 2:14, 22-23)
SECOND READING: PETER MAKES REFERENCE TO THE PASSOVER,
WHEN THE JEWS ESCAPED FROM EGYPT BECAUSE THE BLOOD OF THE
PASCHAL LAMB WAS SHED. NOW THEY ARE BEING SAVED FROM SIN BY
THE BLOOD OF CHRIST, THE LAMB OF THE NEW TESTAMENT. (1 PETER 1: 17-21)
(GOSPEL: JESUS REVEALS HIMSELF TO TWO DISCIPLES ON THE WAY
TO EMMAUS. AFTER EXPLAINING TO THEM THE PASSAGES IN
SCRIPTURE WHICH REFERRED TO HIM, CHRIST “TOOK BREAD, BROKE
IT AND DISTRIBUTED IT TO THEM.” THEN THEY RECOGNIZED CHRIST
AND THEIR “HEARTS BURNED WITHIN THEM.” (LUKE 24: 13-35)
STEWARDSHIP by the BOOK-April 23,2017 Jesus meets the need of each disciple. To the fearful in the
upper room, He speaks words of peace. To doubting Thomas, He provides tangible proof of His resurrection. What do I need to become His disciple? What do I have to share that might meet someone else’s need?
MASS CARDS We are asked to pray for the dead. The best
way to do this is to have a mass celebrated in memory of a loved one. Call the rectory 973-663-021l. Please note- offering is $15.

IN REMEMBRANCE The faculty of memory is truly powerful. It enables us to recall incidents in our lives that occurred many years ago. We remember people who have died and who have returned home to the Lord, a father or mother, a husband or wife, a brother or sister. We remember them not only through the photographs we carry, but also through the letters we have saved and through gifts they gave us. Their presence to us remains strong and vibrant. We can remember them in other tangible ways. This Easter many people have donated flowers on our altar in memory of a loved one. The following people were remembered in our sanctuary this Easter:
