Black LightSecret traditions in art since the 1950s
“Black Light” considers the influence of the various esoteric traditions in contemporary art, from the 1950s to the present day. These traditions, understood in a broad sense, can be traced back to the very origins of civilisation and have been used on a number of occasions to shape ambitious philosophical, scientific or spiritual ideas. In recent years, numerous artists have shown a new interest in issues as varied as alchemy, secret societies, the esoteric branches of religions, Eastern philosophies, magic and psychedelia, rekindling the fascination with the counterculture of the 1960s and ’70s.

Xcèntric CinemaConversations about the creative process and the filmic vision
The book Xcèntric Cinema, edited by Gonzalo de Lucas, takes us into the filmmaker’s workshop, that personal space where film creators reflect on their working methods and aesthetic ideas. A constellation of images, experiences, notes and inspirational ideas from a series of great filmmakers that serve as a notebook of creative projects and help to expand our imaginative field. Conversations about ways of seeing, thinking and discovering the possibilities of the camera, editing, light and colour; about filming portraits, human figures and landscapes; about exploring the links between cinema, poetry and painting; about film stock itself and the conceptual or manual processes that take place before we manage to refine an idea or a form. Each of the 15 filmmakers in this book — all considered essential to the history of the programming of Xcèntric, the cinema of the CCCB, and to artistic and poetic cinema — take as their starting point a series of images, either from their own works or those of other artists, with the aim of discussing them and sharing the specific ways in which they achieve their filmic vision; or rather, that which you can only see thanks to cinema.

Museums and accessibility work groupTogether with other museums in Barcelona and the metropolitan area, the CCCB belongs to a work group willing to share knowledge and resources, to ask questions, to promote common strategies, to raise awareness and to work in partnership on accessibility issues in museums. Experiences and accessibility projects in museums and cultural institutions are published in the community’s blog:
http://museusiaccessibilitat.blogspot.com.es/
Apropa Cultura Apropa Cultura is a gateway to inclusion aiming to ensure accessibility for all citizens to cultural amenities. It is an initiative that brings together theatres, auditoriums and museums with organisations in the social sector in order to make culture accessible to everyone.

Raval Programme
“Sponsor Your Facility.” Miquel Tarradell secondary schoolThis project, set up four years ago, promotes collaboration and joint work between cultural amenities and schools in El Raval, with the aim of including children, young people, and their families in the cultural activity of the neighbourhood.
Over the course of the 2017-2018 academic year, we developed the project “Cultural actions, an educational and communal opportunity”, based on the exhibition “After the End of the World”. It consisted of eighteen cultural actions, designed and implemented by ninety students in the first year of the Advanced Training Programme in Social Integration at the Miquel Tarradell Institute and aimed at ten organisations in El Raval.
The project was conceived by the following teachers from the Miquel Tarradell Institute: Xus Cuairan, Jaume Fuster, Laura Ruiz, Juan Antonio Jiménez, Laia Guardiola, Albert Font and Judit Barahona, together with CCCB Educació.
The project was designed and monitored by Senén Roy Català and Isidre Plaza and was developed within the framework of the project “Sponsor your Facility”, which works to promote collaboration and joint work between schools and the most important cultural amenities in El Raval and to facilitate meaningful experiences in culture.
The participating organisations in the project are: Fundació Servei Solidari, EICA’s Ta-Axira Project, Cooperativa Impulsem s.c.c.l., Mamás que leen Project (INS Miquel Tarradell), Sant Pere’s Servei Ocupacional d'Inserció (SOI), Club IPI, Franja Raval Project, Llar residència Montjuïc, Servei d'acompanyament especialitzat per a persones joves tutelades i extutelades (SAEJ), Centre d'Atenció Sociosanitària - Sala Baluard.

Culturnautes scholarshipsCulturnautes took place from 25 June to 20 July. The CCCB’s summer day camp for children is a space to encourage each participant’s capacity to explore, discover and stimulate curiosity. This inclusive activity reflects the CCCB’s responsibility to offer a space where all children have access to learning through cultural experiences. Obra Social “la Caixa” awarded 30 grants to enable children and young people in El Raval to enjoy this activity, endorsed by Barcelona City Council.

With regard to place of residence, almost half of the visitors resided in Catalonia (47%) and the other half were resident abroad (44%), with only 9% coming from other autonomous communities in Spain.
These data show variations between exhibitions. “After the End of the World” and “WPP18” attracted mainly residents of Catalonia, with a high percentage of visitors resident in the city of Barcelona or metropolitan Barcelona. In contrast, “Black Light” was visited by a high percentage of tourists, as the exhibition ran throughout the summer.
Place of residence
Of the 30% of visitors resident in the city of Barcelona, most came from the Eixample, Gràcia and Ciutat Vella. The exhibitions “After the End of the World” and WPP18” attracted more visitors from Sant Andreu and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, while Kubrick attracted more people from Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Martí.

How they found out
Visitors to the CCCB find out about exhibitions in very different ways. Here, too, there is a difference between figures for the whole year and those for the summer months, when tourist information obviously predominates.
A high percentage of visitors found information on the Internet and many of them received recommendations to go and see the exhibition.
More than half of the visitors to “Black Light”, the exhibition that ran through the summer, found out about it through tourist information. It is worthy of note that the exhibition “After the End of the World” had a high percentage of recommendations from schools and universities.
