EDITORIAL This special issue of Croatica Chemica Acta is dedicated to Professor Douglas Jay Klein on the occasion of his 70 th birthday. Professor Klein is a distinguished researcher in chemical physics and mathematical chemistry. He is a tenured professor of chemistry at the Texas A&M University at Galveston and a member of the International Academy of Mathematical Chemistry. The reasons why the Festschrift in honour of Professor Klein appears in Croatica Chemica Acta are manifold. Professor Klein visited Zagreb on several occasions and delivered lectures at the Rugjer Bošković Institute. He also attended a number of MATH/- CHEM/COMP meetings in Dubrovnik, organized by the Theoretical Chemistry Group from the Rugjer Bošković Institute and gave there invited lectures. He was also a prompt and fair reviewer for Croatica Chemica Acta. Finally, he had over the years a number of visiting scientists from Zagreb. The following scientists from Zagreb spent some time with him at Galveston on the Welch Foundation grants: Darko Babić, Nađa Došlić, Tomislav Došlić, the late Ante Graovac, Željko Jeričević, Sonja Nikolić, Milan Randić, Nenad Trinajstić and Tomislav Živković. Thus, he influenced considerably the development of theoretical chemistry in Croatia. Professor Klein has also published with his visitors from Croatia as coauthors a number of papers in Croatica Chemica Acta. Darko Babić Alexandru Teodor Balaban Bono Lučić Nenad Trinajstić

This special issue of Croatica Chemica Acta is dedicated to Professor Douglas Jay Klein on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Professor Klein is a distinguished researcher in chemical physics and mathematical chemistry. He is a tenured professor of chemistry at the Texas A&M University at Galveston and a member of the International Academy of Mathematical Chemistry.

Professor Klein has also published with his visitors from Croatia as coauthors a number of papers in Croatica Chemica Acta.
