Sound Sensation Sound Sensation 1. Lie both paper bowls upside down. Your child will be painting the bottom of the bowls. 2. Discuss pattern and how they might want their “instrument” to look. Pattern is repeated shapes and forms. 3. Children may begin painting, they will need to paint the outside of both bowls. When they are finished painting allow the paint to dry. 4. Once dry, fill one bowl with either uncooked rice, dry beans or pennies. 5. Next, using the hot glue gun, glue the edges of both bowls together - creating an odd shaped ball. Allow glue to dry. 6. Using the hole puncher, a handle can be made with yarn by punching two holes through the edges. 7. This “instrument” can be played like a drum or can be shaken like a giant shaker. Different fillings make different sounds. You and your child could make different ones and create your own homemade band.
