Cross Colours – the STAYING POWER of an iconic brand that STANDS FOR SOMETHING

Cross Colours is the first clothing brand created for all Americans with a street point of view. Embraced by the rising hip hop movement, the brand’s premise “Clothing Without Prejudice” and slogans like “Educate 2 Elevate” and “Stop The Violence” made it iconic and fueled its meteoric rise, with support from top artists and celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Run DMC, Dre, TLC, Will Smith, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, MC Lyte, Kathy Ireland, Jamie Foxx, Paula Abdul, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, and Muhammad Ali.

Cross Colours is the only brand of its kind, drawing love and respect from consumers who grew up wearing it, and those who were too young to wear it in the 90’s and are excited to be able to purchase it today.

The DNA of the brand is part of the culture: its name, logo, what it stands for, its messages, its percussive graphics, its sense of unity and freedom.

The new collection is comprised of fresh Core and Fashion styles, Limited Edition Authentic Military, and “Retro Re-issues” using original graphics from our library.

History

Cross Colours, the iconic brand launched in 1989 under the premise “Clothing Without Prejudice”, is re-launching to carry out its original goals and support the movement for justice, equality and education.

Inspired by the growing Hip Hop movement, Cross Colours was always more than a clothing brand. Created in South Central Los Angeles by Carl Jones and TJ Walker, its goal was to make clothing for all people. Cross Colours promoted education, non-violence and equality and supported the community through education grants, internships and jobs. The first of its kind with vibrant colors, innovative designs, cool graphics and positive messages such as “Educate To Elevate”, “Peace In The Hood”, “Love Sees No Color”, “Speak Yo Mind”, and “Stop The Violence,” Cross Colours rose to $100 million in sales from 1990 to 1993 and is widely recognized as the brand that created the streetwear market we know today.

The Urban market makes up one of the most dynamic sectors of the apparel industry, with products aimed at young men, women, teens and tweens. There is a large intersection of sportswear, which includes: fashion, streetwear, leisurewear and fitness clothing. These categories are increasingly blurring lines between them, making them overlap and obscure them behind general groupings. However, this segment is a vital part of the American dream of individuality and is the pulse of the US fashion community. This category is especially important to the male demographic and teenage communities. Collectively, they are steadily obscuring the difference between sports apparel, fitness clothing and casual activewear in America.
