“Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”

~ Vince Lombardi

Since the arrival of the theatre’s new CEO, Adam Philipson, in November of last year, the theatre and its staff have experienced a shot of positive energy and an agenda that is jam packed with new programming concepts for the theatre, collaborative partnerships, and a deepening sense of our place in the community. While I am thrilled to have such a forward thinking captain at the helm, it also brings to mind the importance of teamwork in order for us as an organization to implement his fabulous vision.

Taking this one step further, I realize that the teamwork required of us as employees of the theatre and the teamwork required of young actors preparing for a performance is one and the same. As I write the course descriptions for multiple classes, one of the recurring inherent benefits of arts education is that it builds confidence, collaboration, and a strong understanding of the importance of working together as a team.

In a society that has often been deemed the me-centric generation, where everything we do is for our own personal comfort, it is refreshing to know that we are doing our part to break that cycle and instill a different work ethic in our students.

It is my hope that in their efforts to create proficient young actors, singers and dancers, our faculty follows the philosophy of the infamous coach, Vince Lombardi. Not only do they teach the essentials of the craft but also the life skills that will translate to a generation of respectful and disciplined youngsters who are truly team-players.

The infamous Green Bay Packer coach, Vince Lombardi certainly had the right idea when it came to inspiring and motivating his players!
