Overview:The CBT 70J, with Constant Beamwidth

Technology™, represents a breakthrough inpattern control consistency, utilizingcomplex analog delay beam-forming andamplitude tapering to accomplish superior,consistent vertical coverage without thenarrow vertical beaming and out-of-coverage lobing that are typical of straightform-factor column speakers.

The CBT 70J combines ConstantBeamwidth Technology with a physicalJ-shaped curving, resulting in a very wellcontrolled progressive line array withasymmetrical vertical coverage. Theasymmetrical coverage produces a higherconcentration of sound with a tighterpattern from the upper half of the array anda lower concentration of sound with abroader vertical pattern from the lower halfof the array. This sends more sound towardthe far area of the room than to the neararea of the room, resulting in more evenfront-to-back SPL levels than would be thecase from a traditional speaker or columnthat projects symmetrically in the verticalplane.

The two-way coaxial design provides awide 60 Hz – 20 kHz bandwidth. Thelow-diffraction baffle eliminates frequencyresponse irregularities that could otherwiseoccur due to baffle discontinuities.

The slim, compact design fits well intovirtually any architectural decor. The 70 cm(27.6 in) tall line array height providesconsistent pattern control throughout theintelligibility band, making the CBT 70Jwork well in difficult acoustic environments.

It is ideal for applications such as performance auditoriums, lecture halls, classrooms,A/V, transit centers, school stadiums, multipurpose spaces, racetracks, theme parks, andfill applications, among many others.

Adjustable Coverage to Fit the ApplicationThe innovative coverage adjustability allows switching between broad and narrow

vertical coverage settings to allow matching the coverage and throw requirements of theapplication. Coverage can be easily switched in-venue with the speaker already installed.This innovation allows a single loudspeaker model to excel in an extremely wide varietyof project types.

User Variable VoicingThe voicing can be set to match the application through a Music/Speech switch. The

Music setting provides flat frequency response, while the Speech setting produces a mid-range presence boost to provide clear, intelligible speech even at the longest throwdistances, along with increased midrange sensitivity for higher midrange maximumoutput capability.

DriversThe low frequency drivers are lightweight dual magnet neodymium motors with 38

mm (1.5 in) diameter voice coils. The dual magnet system provides maximum flux in acompact package. The magnet structure is magnetically shielded and the pole tips aremagnetically saturated for lower flux modulation and minimum distortion. The 16 mm(0.63 in) long coil provides high linear drive and high power handling in a compactdriver. The LF drivers feature damped blended textile surrounds and coated sealed papercones found in high performance large format drivers.

The high frequency driver features a dual magnet neodymium structure for maximumsensitivity. The tweeter is encased for weather resistance. The drivers are magneticallyshielded to allow close placement CRT monitors.

Both drivers feature coated diaphragm materials to provide moisture, UV and saltresistance for outdoor capability.

SonicGuard™

Dynamic SonicGuard™ protection on the high frequency section minimizes distortionat high drive levels by limiting driver excursion dynamically. This maximizes music clarityand speech intelligibility at high drive levels while protecting the drivers from damagedue to occasional overpowering.

BracketryA wall-mount tilt bracket is included, plus ten M6 inserts on the back panel fit the

spacing of common third-party mounting brackets, or can be utilized to suspend thespeaker using forged shoulder steel eyebolts or swivel mounting rings, providinginstallation versatility.

CBT 70J can be installed either indoors or outdoors. The drivers are weather-treated,the fiberglass reinforced ABS cabinet is excellent for outdoor applications, externalscrews are stainless steel and the painted aluminum grille resists rusting in the harshestconditions. Available in black or white (-WH).
