• A website revamp proposal was approved by the BOE on 4/14/2012

• Purposes/goals: creating a website with up-to-date web tools to improve

internal as well as external communications so that we can

− Better serve congregations

− Better inform visitors

− Facilitate church ministries

− Promote special ministries or events

• Approaches

− Do-it-ourselves in 3 phases

− Drupal 7 with Content Management System (CMS)

• Status

− Phase 1: done (CMS framework, transport contents from old site)

− Phase 2: almost done (online directory, events/announcements, SS online

registration, fellowship directories, etc.)

− Phase 3: in planning

• Drupal is an open source content management system (CMS) or content

management framework. It provides:

− A URL request dispatch system.

− A user account management system with flexible permissions and roles.

− Online content editing.

− A block system that allows you to place chunks of content in various regions

of a site’s pages.

− The ability to set up a site in different languages and translate content

− uses a theme system to separate the content from the specific HTML markup

and styling.

− Drupal is modular software, meaning that you can turn site features and

functionality on and off by enabling and disabling modules.

− Logging of system events and errors.
