Expectations of all Students.Students who are going on a school residential visit should know already what is expected of them. They are representing the school, the school staff and their families.

We try to impose as few rules as possible, but we do expect the following Good behaviour at all times The ability to listen to instructions and follow them (they are for your safety) Good manners No foul language The ability to ask if you are unsure about anything Not to leave the site without permission No smoking, no alcohol To stay in your own room after lights out

All of the above can be summed up with the following few words,

Failure to comply with instructions many incur serious penaltiesE.g.

We all want to avoid unpleasantness, and have a good time, so please follow the simple guidelines and expectations.

Itinerary

Please note: The final itinerary will be confirmed closer to departure.

Trip

Outward Journey

Coach arrives at Snaith School at 9.30am on Wednesday 14thth October. It will be loaded up and ready to depart by 10.00am.

Arrival at Caythorpe Court at 12 noon.

Return Journey

Coach departs Caythorpe Court after lunch at 1.00pm on Friday 16thth October.

Arrival at Snaith School at 3.00pm.

Clothing Checklist

To avoid stamping on your case to fit everything in use the following list as a guide/reminder for packing.

It would be a good idea to tick the box as you pack each item so that you are sure that you have everything.

Please make sure that suitcases and any items of specific value are indelibly marked with your name, and address if possible. This will aid recovery in the event of loss.

Luggage

There will be space for one piece of hold luggage per person plus a small piece of hand luggage. Pupils must plan their packing so that everything they need on the journey is taken onboard at the outset.

Valuables must be clearly marked and are the responsibility of the owner at all times. Students wishing to use hair dryers could reduce luggage by taking such items to share with roommates.

Coach Travel Guidelines

Students must remain seated and wear their seat belts at all times.

Due to the length of the journey it is unlikely that the bus will stop.

Pupils must visit the toilet before departure from school on the outward journey and before departure from the centre on the return journey.

Valuables (inc. money)

Only a small amount of money is required. A tuck shop and drinks machine are available on site.

A watch is essential.

Students are responsible for their own valuables.

If students want to take a camera with them on the trip, a disposable camera seems the best idea. It would be such a shame if expensive cameras were broken/damaged.

Please be aware; school staff will take photos throughout the visit. These will then be available to purchase on a CD on return to school.

Mobile phones should not be taken. There are payphones on site and members of staff will have access to mobile phones at all times in case of emergency.

Accommodation

Students share a room with 4 people, each 2 sharing a bunk bed.

Pillows and bedding are provided.

Each room contains en-suite washing facilities.

On arrival at the centre, check your room carefully for any existing damage and report it your group leader. Take care to prevent any damage at the centre; if you spill anything – clean it up immediately. Any breakages – inform your group leader as soon as possible.

Make sure that you know where the nearest exit is, and which rooms the members of staff are in.

In the event of a fire proceed via the nearest exit and assemble at the front of the accommodation, stay in your group, and wait for a register to be taken, and follow instructions. A fire drill may take place during your stay.

Around the centre; at all times pupils must behave in a responsible and sensible manner, and do not act in a way that is likely to cause damage to property or offence to other people.

You must keep noise to a minimum in and around the centre, and especially after 10.00pm.

Smoking and alcohol are strictly forbidden to all students.

Caythorpe CourtCaythorpe Court near Grantham, Lincolnshire is a grade II listed mansion house set in 50 acres of grounds.

In addition to purpose built accommodation blocks there is a wide range of facilities including classrooms, sports hall, playing fields and a man-made lake.

Meals

Meals are served in a covered, indoor seating area.

The centre provides 3 Meals per day. Most dietary requirements can be catered for. These requirements should be noted on the medical forms previously distributed.

PGL staff

A professional and enthusiastic team of PGL staff are based at each centre to ensure that you and your group have an enjoyable and safe stay.

All staff are PGL trained and police checked.

PGL’s absolute priority is SAFETY.

Staff are first aid trained and hold appropriate training qualifications to instruct pupils as to the correct use of equipment.

Security

A full risk assessment is carried out annually for each centre. This covers all aspects of the operation including centre facilities and activities.

PGL take all responsible measures to ensure that the centres are a safe and secure environment for all the guests.

On arrival all guests receive a fire safety briefing and are shown emergency exits and meeting points as well as the evacuation procedures. A full fire drill may take place and it is important that students ensure they are fully aware of the procedures.

As I am sure you will appreciate, the potential dangers of a residential trip cannot be underestimated.

We will ensure that your child is fully cared for under our supervision and we expect their behaviour to be impeccable to avoid any preventable accidents.
