CAVELERO MID HIGH SCHOOL
If your student needs extra assistance with class work we have the solutions.
1. Students should always communicate with the classroom teacher. Please ask questions in class. If you need
more time with the teacher ask when you can meet with them.
2. Lunchtime tutoring started on September 23, 2013. A final lunchtime tutoring schedule is available on our
website.
3. After school tutoring and Study Corral started September 24, 2013. It is on Tuesday and Thursday from
2:05 - 3:05 p.m. in the Library. Academic Support Bus is available at 3:10 out in front of the school.
More tutoring opportunities will be available throughout the year. Please keep checking our website http://
www.lkstevens.wednet.edu/cmh/ and informing counselors and teachers when your students are in need of assis-
tance.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT BUS
Thanks to a generous program offered by Northwest Auto Recyclers and our supportive community, we will
also be able to provide transportation every Tuesday and Thursday. A bus will be available for students that stay after
for academic support. Seating is limited and the bus will have to make multiple stops, please plan on a longer ride.
Please check our website about academic support bus start date and donating to our school through Northwest Auto Re-
cyclers. Our students and staff thank you for your ongoing support!
Emerging Status Dear Parent/Guardian,
Things are off to a great start this school year at Cavelero Mid High School. We are excited to continue to build upon the momentum
of our students’ increased success on the state assessment from 2012-2013 and work to successfully transition to the full implementa-
tion of the Common Core State Standards for 2014-2015.
The purpose of this letter is to reaffirm our commitment to the success of ALL students and to inform you that we are always working
to improve. During the 2011-12 school year, Cavelero Mid High School was identified as an Emerging school based on an analysis of
student achievement in our special education sub group in relationship to how we compare with other Title 1 schools in our state (we
had Title 1 in 2009-2010). This analysis specifically identified that our special education sub group did not meet our goals during the
previous three years on state assessments in Reading and Mathematics. While our 2012-2013 state assessment scores in reading
showed significant gains for our special education subgroup in reading, we are continuing to focus efforts in seeing similar improve-
ments in math.
To increase learning outcomes for all of our students, we are taking the following action steps over the course of the school year:
Identify next steps we will take to improve learning outcomes for our students, by completing our “Student and School
Success Action Plan”; the plan must be submitted to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for review and
approval.
Implement our plan and examine a variety of data to ensure we are making progress.
Engage parents/guardians and our school community in our improvement efforts.
For more information or a description of the basis for the school’s identification as an emerging school see the following webpage
from OSPI: http://www.k12.wa.us/ESEA/PublicNotice.aspx
As always, we are committed to continued growth as we work together to support our most valuable resource, our children.
Sincerely,
Mike Snow,
Principal

~ LHH ~ Information Form 2013-2014
Li’l Hungry Hearts (LHH), a project under the Lake Stevens Family Center is a backpack program working in coopera-
tion with the Lake Stevens School District. The program is totally run by volunteers (students and adults) and support-
ed by donations and sponsorships from our community. This program provides Cavelero students with an opportunity
to receive supplemental kid-friendly food items for the weekends and extended school holidays. Students are
staff referred and must also qualify for the National School Lunch Program to be eligible for this program. The pro-
gram is limited to a first-come basis and is dependent totally on funding and food supplies. LHH will operate through-
out the school-year or until we are notified by the parent/guardian that the child no longer requires assistance. Our
goals are to make sure that “No Child is Left Hungry” by “Taking a Bite Out of Childhood Hunger!”
Please feel free to contact us at 425-335-1630 if you have any questions or would like more information about this
program.
Thank you.

OUR REGISTRAR, MRS. PERFECT-READING
Cavelero considers regular attendance to be a necessary part of student learning. We believe regular at-
tendance instills a sense of responsibility in each student that will carry over after their time here. With
this in mind we have an attendance policy which states a student may lose credit if they exceed 10
(excused or unexcused) absences in any semester. Students are allowed to retrieve up to 5 excused ab-
sences through their attendance at Saturday School or after school Study Corral. If you have any ques-
tions regarding attendance please contact Carilyn Bailey in the Attendance office at 425-335-1629 or
