Causeway School has reached the last 8 of the Schools FA National Football Competition after an impressive 5-1 victory away to Theale Green School, Berkshire. In blustery conditions the Causeway team controlled the game from the start and took an early lead through Jordan Willoughby. Outstanding displays from Max Thompson and Mackenzie Stiles repelled any first half attacking play from the opposition but despite Causeway's dominance the half time break arrived with the score only 1-0. The second half saw Causeway step up a gear and with a solid defensive base to play from, the attacking players produced some outstanding football. Goals from Charlie Vella (2), Ben Overton and Max Thompson saw the team reach an unassailable 5-0 advantage before a last minute consolation from the hosts and victory for the Causeway. The final whistle was followed by some lovely words from the Theale teacher who complimented Causeway on the quality of their passing football and overall play. The 1/4 finals see Causeway School host Ralph Sadleir school from Essex later this month. 100% ROEDEAN SCHOLARSHIP Some great news for Karen Kingshott. She received a letter this week from Roedean offering her an unconditional 100% scholarship to them from September. The letter compliments Karen on the confidence and determination she showed in her interviews. A remarkable, impressive and outstanding achievement. WELL DONE! SHARNFOLD FARM VISITS ROCK CHALLENGE

LITTLE RED IN REHEARSALS...

GIRLS’ CRICKET

SAINSBURY’S ACTIVE

We had a lovely day visiting Sharnfold Farm. The weather was kind we had bright sunshine. On our visit Dennis the farmer was explaining what they do in the winter to prepare the ground. The main focus was to learn about how to preserve different types of foods. We learnt about freezing, drying, salting, pickling, smoking, oiling, vacuum packing and jams amongst other techniques. We also got to taste test some of the preserves the farm sell. A very informative trip.

We are also very happy to report that an e x t e r n a l Cricket Coach has agreed to c o m e t o

Causeway and coach girls cricket for girls in Years 7 and 8. This will take place on Tuesdays after school, starting on Tuesday 23 February, for 6 weeks. Sessions will run from 3.15pm - 4.15pm. This is a free course. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity. For further details see Miss Holden.

We are once again collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers. The collection box will be in the Reception area.

Please collect as many vouchers as you can to put towards new sports equipment for the school.
