Robert & William in your will or trust to continue our traditions and education. Contact Fr. John at the Parish Office for more information. 1 Dear Parishioners, Happy Father’s Day! I hope and pray that all Fathers know of our love, admiration, and sup- port. I am blessed with a wonderful father and had two great grandfathers who now watch over me from heaven. I do implore us to pray for all those who do not have a father in their life or have a bad relationship with their father for whatever reason. A few times in the last few weeks it has really hit me how people have some real hurts in this area of their lives. On this day, we lift you up and pray that you know the love of your heavenly Father! To all dads out there: thank you for all you do! Thank you for your love, support, guidance, protection, and care everyday of our lives! Thank you for being the first teachers of us in the ways of faith and being good role models! Here is a special prayer for you: We give our thanks, Creator God, for the fathers in our lives. ... For those who are fathers, we ask for wisdom and humility in the face of the task of parenting. Give them the strength to do well by their children and by You. In Your Holy name, O God, we pray. Life at SRW is beginning to get back to normal, slowly but surely. Groups and ministries are beginning to meet in person. Our Guardian Angels Early Learning Center has reopened. We are planning for the reopening of the school in August. We have rescheduled dates for RCIA initiation, First Communion, and Confirmation. Deacon Joe will be ordained August 1 and then serve at St. Peter Parish in North Ridgeville. Assuming all continues to go well, we will add a second Sunday morning Mass. We will also begin to add back weekday Masses at St. John of the Cross and move the Saturday Vigil back to 4 pm. I hope to announce these additions/changes next weekend. We also plan on starting to use parishioners instead of just clergy and staff to serve as Ushers, Greeters, Lectors, and Extraordi- nary Ministers of Holy Communion. If you serve in one of these ministries, please watch your email this week for information about training meetings and a new schedule. We also want to know who is ready to serve and who may not be comfortable serving yet. We respect people’s desire to wait a few more months. Fr. Thom has planned a Virtual Bible School for the children of the parish this week. He has done a phenomenal job. I am very impressed. The kids will have a great time and learn a lot about Jesus. Please keep them in your prayers. Finally, our playground has reopened and is regularly being cleaned and sanitized. Please feel free to use it with your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc. Make it a great week! See you in church or livestream Peace, Fr. John Thank you for all the 2020 festival donations and Raf- fle ticket purchases. LUKE BROWN’S REFLECTION This week’s Gospel reading has always been a source of re-flection for anyone who has struggled with anxiety. When I have clients who struggle with anxiety, I almost always rec-ommend that they spend time with this Gospel passage to reflect on just how much God loves us. It is easy to question God’s love for us and to wonder if He is really involved in our lives. Sometimes we ask for things that we think are holy and good, and yet we get something different. Some-times, in the name of serving God and others, we make plans that go awry or do not materialize at all. Then, we reflect on this Gospel passage. God cares for the birds, and yet He loves us so much more than the birds. God’s plan for our salvation and holiness is always so much greater than we can imagine. It is like the old saying goes, “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plan.” It is normal, natural, and human to worry about things. We all experience fears about the future, finances, relationships, or professions at some point, but how we handle them is what can help us grow in holiness and in our relationship with Christ. Instead of becoming plagued by fear and anxiety, which almost al-ways results in paralysis or self-destruction, it is better to take a deep breath, bring the face of Christ to the forefront of our mind, and remember that He is with us always and has much bigger plans for us.

Prayer for Justice in our Nation: God of justice,

In your wisdom you create all people in your image, without exception. Through your goodness, open our eyes to see the dignity, beauty, and worth of every human being. Open our minds to understand that all your children are brothers and

sisters in the same human family. Open our hearts to repent of racist attitudes, behaviors, and speech which demean others. Open our ears to hear the cries of those wounded by racial

discrimination and their passionate appeals for change. Strengthen our resolve to make amends for past injustices and

to right the wrongs of history. Fill us with courage that we might seek to heal wounds, build bridges, forgive and be for-

given, and establish peace and equality for all in our communi-ties. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

We cannot thank you enough for your support at SS. Robert & William + St. John of the Cross. We are blessed to report that,

with your help, we have raised $11.1 million from 36,394 donors as of May 31st. While the number of donors has

slipped this year, the amount we have raised is actually a little ahead of where we were at this point last year!

Please know that our prayers are with you and your parishes as you welcome your parishioners back in the pews. If you have

any questions or need additional materials, please don't hesistate to reach out via email or phone - we are here to help you!

May God continue to bless you and your loved ones, Sarah Yantek
