Support the Production of our Bulletin
Producing our own bulletin allows us to meet the needs of
the three languages. If we were to send this bulletin out to
be produced, we would have to have one bulletin in Eng-
lish only for everyone and the publications of the Readings
in Italian and Spanish would have to come to an end. Help
us by Supporting our advertisers and also by placing
an ad in our bulletin for a year. Please call the office for
more information.

MASS INTENTIONS My brothers and sisters we are in the third Sun-day of Easter. This weekend the Church gave us a beautiful story, the story of “The Road of Emmaus” this story is about the resurrection and it took place on the day of resurrection itself. In our Gospel St. Luke tells us how Jesus appeared to two men and how Jesus explained the Scriptures to them. They are walking down the road, the road of life. They are talking about their struggles and the things that are going on. Jesus draws near to them. He comes up close to walk with them and during the way Jesus explained the Holy Scriptures. My broth-ers and sisters to walk with Jesus involves the Scriptures, the Eucharistic and spiritual devo-tions. So, in this weekend let us open our Bible and read the Holy Scriptures. By reading the Scriptures like the disciples on the road to Em-maus our hearts will burn within us. Like them we will see how Jesus fulfills the Jewish prophecies, psalms and history. Then like the two men let us invite Jesus to our home be-cause every Sunday the Risen Lord invites us to His and He shares with us His blood and body “Jesus sits down at the table, he takes bread, blesses it and breaks it, and gives it to us”. This weekend like every weekend let us ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray for us. May she help us to know better the Risen Lord especially in the breaking of the bread. Fr. Josue Vargas Lara
Healing Mass This coming Friday, April 20th, at 7:00pm we have our Healing mass in which we administer the Sacrament of the Sick. This is a good opportuni-ty to bring the elderly and the sick to
receive this important Sacrament of Healing. Following the mass we have the devotions to St. Expedito. Everyone is welcome.
ShareLife Living the Gospel by helping those with ad-dictions. Scarred by an abusive childhood, An-drew became addicted to hard drugs as an early teen. His next 20 years were spent in-and-out of jail and the hospital. He finally came to St. Michael’s Homes, a ShareLife-funded agency that offers a residential program for those struggling with substance abuse. Now sober and equipped with coping skills, Andrew is happy and building a new life. By supporting ShareLife, you’re helping people like Andrew get their lives back on track. Next Sunday, April 22 is ShareLife Sunday. Please give generously.
Mass Intentions We ask the community to kindly request mass intentions ahead of time. Mass inten-
tions to be announced on weekend masses and days of the following week must be re-quested by Wednesday of each week. We cannot change dates for mass intentions pre-viously requested. Thank you for your under-standing and your co-operation.

NO ELECTRONICS, DISH-ES, BOOKS, CONSTRUCTION MATERI-ALS AND EQUIPMENT, FURNITURE, VIDEO/AUDIO CASSETTES, WILL BE AC-CEPTED. The truck will be open until the last Mass of the day.
Catholic Education Week 2018 begins on Sunday, May 6
The Catholic schools in our parish St. Basil, St. Simon and St. Jude will engage in a series of events to celebrate the ongo-ing gift of publicly funded Catholic education. You are invited to discover what celebrations are hap-pening in your children’s school and if possi-ble, attend. Publicly funded Catholic education has existed in Ontario since 1841 and its grad-uates have served Ontario and Canada very well. The current generation of students in our publicly funded Catholic schools will serve with the same spirit and generosity as their pre-vious generations. This year’s Catholic Educa-tion Week theme is “Renewing the Promise.” The theme for CEW 2018 draws upon previous documents on Ontario Catholic education, namely, “This Moment of Promise” (1989), “Fulfilling the Promise” (1993) and “Our Cath-olic Schools” (2006-2007). These three docu-ments, while several years apart from each oth-er, all speak of the unique mission of Ontario Catholic education, the importance of its shared leadership by all those involved in Catholic education and the critical role of Catholic education in contemporary society. Catholic Education Week 2018 combines the themes of reconciliation, solidarity, love, jus-tice and ecology. The CEW biblical quote is “For the promise is for you, for your chil-dren, and for all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to him.” Acts 2:39

Pray for Vocations What could convince someone to turn to God? The story that God became human? The sto-ry that Jesus cured the sick? The story that Jesus forgave
sin? The story that Jesus rose from the dead? Or, perhaps, the story of the wit-ness of your own life! If you have the continuing inclination that God is call-ing you to be a priest, religious or dea-con, call Fr. Chris Lemieux, Vocation Director, Archdiocese of Toronto at 416-968-0997 or email: [email protected]

Planning to be a Catholic School Teacher?
It is critical for you to know that to be hired to teach in any Catholic School Board in Ontario as part of your appli-cation for employment you must pro-vide a letter of recommendation from your Pastor. It is highly recommended to contact the pastor a year in advance, especially in light of the fact that all universities make this matter known to every student at the beginning of the year. Please plan to have a conversa-tion with your pastor early in the pro-cess (not the week before you are sub-mitting your application) and you will avoid disappointment and stress at the time when applications are to be sub-mitted. The following are required at St. Jude’s: Be (yourself, not your parents or
grandparents) a registered member of
the parish using offertory envelopes (at least 1 year before the applica-tion).
Be in the parish for participation in Sunday/Saturday mass for a mini-mum of 12 months prior to approach-ing the pastor.
Make your request 3 months in ad-vance. Applicant must be the one making the requests.
No request by a relative or a parent will be accepted .
The pastor has to be able to recom-mend you, and that is only possible if he knows you at the basic level of reg-ular mass attendance. Personal knowledge of the candidate’s faith practice is what the pastor needs to rec-ommend, not your relatives, but your-self, as this is a personal recommenda-tion not a family one.
