DEVELOPING MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT
April 2019
Easter
In this Easter season, fill our hearts with Your light and grace that we might joyfully echo the words of Your Holy Angels:
He is not here in the tomb,
He is risen!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Amen.
Easter is an important celebration to be shared with family members and friends. Jesus, our friend and saviour, rose from the dead on that first Easter and forever changed the world for us. We rejoice in the new life that Jesus brings to us. His resurrection gives us hope. At Easter time, we are invited to reaffirm our belief and resurrection.
We wish for you the many blessings of this Easter Season.

Autonomy Assembly
Special thank-you to Mr. Lawrence’s class for organizing our Umbrella pro-ject around the skill of Autonomy. Students are taught that when we have autonomy we feel empowered to make decisions that can improve our lives instead of feeling that our lives are outside of our control. Having autonomy increases our motivation and ability to do things for ourselves. It can make tasks feel less like work and more enjoyable
Our April focus is Intrinsic Motivation.

TERESA..
. Speeches St. Teresa had their annual public speaking assembly on Monday, March 25th. There was a wonderful variety of topics from all age groups. The younger students, grades 1 to 3, recited poems. There were poems chosen and poems written by the students them-selves. The older students, grades 4 to 8, had to give a more formal speech that was between 2 to 5 minutes. We heard about many interesting topics from ice cream to reducing waste. We definitely have some very talented speakers at our school. Congratulations to all who participated:
*Lauryn M., Judah D., Skyler T., Jessica S., Audrey E., Stella G., Taelyn K., Connor L., Brinley F., Mason G., Alex L., Erin B., Adelaide D. Rachel Grosz, Olivia W., Addie F., Jordyn B., Reid D., Clyde C., MaKenna K., Kate G., Jordyn K., Anna P., and Heike E.
Special congratulations to Alex L. and Jordyn K. who were picked by the judges as the outstanding presenters in their categories.
Palm Burning Ceremony
On Monday March 4th, school and parish came together to begin our Lenten journey. Mr. Gallipeau burned palms from last year and Deacon Sean blessed them. Students then received these Ashes at our School Mass on Ash Wednes-day. A special thank-you to Mrs. Baldasaro, Mrs. Hogeveen, Ms. Bauer and Mrs. Miltenburg, who organized our gathering. We would also like to thank Mrs. Russell and Ms. Santarossa for leading us in song and Mr. Gallipeau for burning the palms and braving the cold.
Grade 4 Bible Celebration
On Thursday, March 7, the Grade 4s participated in the receiving of their Bibles at St. Teresa Church. Although we missed having Father Dave lead our celebration, we are very grateful to Mrs. Miltenburg for stepping into the role to help our Grade 4s with this special event. Thank you also to all parents who brought a treat and joined us for this wonderful celebration.
Confirmation
The grade 7s were ushered in as adults in the Catholic faith on Saturday March 23rd. Led by the very skilled faith leaders in the community, the students learned about the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and their saints. The ceremony was led by Bishop Crosby who imparted both wisdom and humour on the confirmation class.
