SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Monday: Presidents’ Day

Tuesday: St. Peter Damian

Wednesday: The Chair of St. Peter the Apostle; Washington’s Birthday Thursday: St. Polycarp

Message from the Pastor Welcome to St. Ambrose—we are so glad you are able to join us today to celebrate the Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time. DIVINE WISDOM: The Lord’s message, through Moses, was to “take no revenge and cherish no grudge . . . love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18). We might think, “Great in theory, but not always realistic!” Then Jesus in today’s Gospel goes even further. Take a slap in the face and then turn the other cheek? Treat enemies the same as friends? Again, we’re tempted to think that those are nice ideals, but not very practical in the “real world.”

Paul echoes Jesus when he tells the Corinthians that what passes for human wisdom is absurdity to God. Divine wisdom casts sunshine on the good and the bad, showers rain on the honest and the dishonest—without distinction. We must examine our wisdom and common sense to see how they compare to the wisdom of God, and make adjustments accordingly.

May God bless you always.

THE HEAVIEST LOAD: A chip on the shoulder is the heaviest load anyone can carry.—Anonymous

Pastor’s Musing SIX TINY STORIES WITH GREAT MESSAGES 1. Once all the villagers decided to pray for rain. On the day of prayer all the people gathered, but only one boy came with an umbrella. That’s FAITH.

2. When you throw a baby in the air, she laughs because she knows you will catch her. That’s TRUST.

3. Every night we go to bed without any assurance of being alive the next morning but still we set the alarms to wake us up. That’s HOPE. 4. We plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future. That’s CONFIDENCE. 5. We see the world suffering, but still we get married and

have children. That’s LOVE. 6. On an old man’s shirt was written a sentence ‘I am not

90 years old...I am sweet 16 with 74 years experience’. That’s ATTITUDE.

Have a good week and live your life like the six tiny stories! May you always have love to share, health to spare & friends who care.

SAINT AMBROSE FOOD PANTRY Thank you to our Food Pantry Volunteers. Every Thursday morning from 8 am to 10 am, distributing food to the needy and homeless of our area. Thanks to all who respond so generously to our requests.

Although many answer our call, the need is still great. Please remember the food baskets and poor boxes as you leave Church. The poor and needy are always among us. Thank you for caring.

PARKING – HELP! We know parking becomes more difficult during the season and even worse during the Carnival but we need your help. Please park only in designated parking spaces. Do not block entrances or exits. Please do not block the entrances to the basketball court, and leave the designated handicapped parking spaces for those who are truly handicapped!
