The University of Dallas is a Catholic university located in Irving where Hwy 183 and Hwy 114 join. Since 1955 it has been an excellent academic institution offering a BA, MA, and PhD. About thirty years ago they started offering pastoral degrees (as opposed to purely academic). Recently they expanded that ministry school and now call it Ann and Joe Neuhoff School of Ministry. It offers a Certificate Program in Pastoral Ministry, a three-year program that starts the fall of 2016. Some of the courses are: Christian Anthropology, Ministry in a Multicultural Church, Morality and Social Justice, New Testament, Prayer and Spirituality. I will be leaving for vacation this afternoon, and I will be back for the weekend of July 9-10. I wish you a very enjoyable 4th of July weekend. Our parish office will be closed on Monday July 4 and Tuesday July 5. On that Monday our only Mass will be at 8:30 am; it will be bilingual, and the theme will be our thanksgiving to God for our Independence. The only Mass on that Tuesday will be at 8:30 am. So the evening Mass on Monday will be canceled, and the evening Mass and Adoration on Tuesday will be canceled.
From Monday June 27 through July 8, we will be honored to host Father Thumma who will be staying with us and helping us with Masses. He is a priest of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, India although he studied at Loyola Marymount University in California and received his Master’s Degree in film and TV production. Recently he has been running a Catholic satellite television station in India. Please welcome him to our parish.
We have noticed a problem when people are requesting Mass Intentions for the deceased or the living. Some people are wanting the same Intention every Sunday for months or the same Intention several times a week. The problem is that when other people want Intentions, they have to wait months and months or even a year before a space appears on the calendar. So, we have to institute a new policy: you can request one Intention per month. That way, other people will have the opportunity to have Masses celebrated for their Intention.

Hoy por la tarde me iré de vacaciones y estaré de vuelta para el fin de semana del 9 y 10 de julio. Les deseo que disfruten un hermoso fin de semana del 4 de Julio. Nuestra oficina parroquial estará cerrada el lunes 4 de julio y el martes 5 de julio. El lunes 4 de julio nuestra única Misa será bilingüe a las 8:30 a.m. y daremos gracias a Dios por nuestra Indepen-dencia. La única Misa del martes 5 de julio será a las 8:30 a.m. en inglés por lo que la Misa de la tarde del lunes, la Misa de la tarde del martes y la Adoración del martes serán canceladas.
Desde el lunes 27 de junio hasta el 8 de julio tendre-mos el honor de acoger al Padre Thumma que se quedará con nosotros y nos ayudará con las Misas en inglés ya que no habla español. Él es un sacerdote de la Arquidiócesis de Hyderabad en India, aunque estudió en la Universidad de Loyola Mary-mount en California y recibió su título de Maestría en produc-ción de cine y televisión. Recientemente ha estado producien-do un canal de televisión Católico vía satélite en la India. Por favor, denle la bienvenida a nuestra parroquia.
Hemos notado un inconveniente cuando las perso-nas están solicitando Intenciones para una Misa por un difunto o un vivo. Algunas personas están solicitando la misma Inten-ción en el mismo horario de Misa todos los domingos durante meses o la misma Intención varias veces a la semana. El pro-blema es que cuando otras personas quieren solicitar una In-tención, tienen que esperar meses y meses o incluso un año antes de que aparezca un espacio en el calendario. Por lo tan-to, tenemos que establecer una nueva política: Solo se puede solicitar una Intención por mes. De esta forma, otras personas tendrán la oportunidad de tener Misas por su intención.

El sábado 24 de septiembre del 2016 la Iglesia de San Francisco de Asís celebrará la 42ª Cena Anual Mexicana y Día Cultural. Este es un día lleno de comida, música, baile, actividades infantiles y más entretenimiento. Las exhi-biciones en las carpas culturales proporciona hechos sobre su país y cómo viven la fe católica en esa región del mundo en particular.
Se necesitan dos nuevos miembros del comité. Si usted está interesado en ayudar con el evento, nos reunimos cada 15 días, y acercándose al evento las reuniones serán semanales. También se necesitan patrocinios para pa-gar los materiales necesarios para el día del evento como son: los brincolines, más materiales. Este es un aconte-cimiento importante para nuestra iglesia, y todas las ganancias están destinadas directamente a nuestra iglesia.

Es un ministerio de ayuda para aquellas personas que están dispuestas a parar sus adicciones al alcohol y a las drogas pero sobre todo a recuperar una vida sana y feliz ofreciéndote un espacio fra-terno serio y confidencial con apoyo para llegar a la recuperación, y la sanación para la persona adicta y sus familias o amigos que lo necesiten. na o el acompañarlos a una cita médica, ayudarlos
cortando el pasto, haciendo tareas del hogar, etc.

“Conquest” es un programa Católico de la Pastoral Juvenil para niños varones de 2º a 5º grado donde ellos y sus papás asisten a una reunión semanal donde les ayuda a crecer en el conoci-miento de la fe católica, la amistad con Cristo y en marcar la diferencia e impactar positivamente a sus familias, amigos y al mundo que los rodea. Rays of Sunshine needs your HELP. We need VOLUNTEERS to help fellow Parishioners This is a unique ministry in that we use your talents to "match you up" with a parishioners’ short term needs. Our ministry is also unique because we strongly encourage families and couples to volunteer together! But first things first, we need to rebuild our volunteer list. If you are interested please stop by our table in the Foyer this weekend after Mass. CHOIR
For the month of July, the Choirs at the 5:00 pm Saturday and the Sun-day 8:00 & 9:45 Masses will be on a Summer break. The music for these Masses will be led by a Cantor. The choirs will return on August 13 & 14.
SEMINARIAN WELCOME BASKETS
Welcome baskets are provided to each returning and new seminarian at Holy Trinity Seminary in Au-gust. Items are donated by the members of the Auxiliary, parish organizations and parishioners like you that pray for, love and support our seminarians. Donations will be accepted in the parish office until Thursday, July 7th. The list of suggested items for welcome baskets are: postage stamps, Walmart gift cards, monetary gift cards, post-it note pads, single subject spirals—college ruled, black socks and # 10 white envelopes. If you own a business and would like to contribute towards this project, we can provide a donor letter for your tax deduction purposes. ANNUAL MEXICAN DINNER AND CULTURAL DAY (AMDCD)
On Saturday, September 24, 2016 we will be cele-brating St Francis of Assisi’s 42nd Annual Mexican Dinner and Cultural Day. This is a day filled with food, music, dancing, children's activities and other entertainment. Cul-tural Tents will be on display - each carrying a theme of a specific country, providing fun-facts about the country and including ways that the Catholic Faith is celebrated in that particular region of the world. We are looking for sponsors and committee members for this event. Sponsorship: There are four levels of sponsorships.
Family ($1-$49) Friend ($50-$200) Community ($201-$550) Fellowship ($551 and over)
Sponsorships are used to pay for materials needed for the day of the event, bounce houses and face painting for the kids. Sponsorships by August 1st will guarantee a spot on the sponsor page of our website. Sponsorships at the Community and Fellowship level sponsored by August 1st will also guarantee a spot on printed communications and publicity the day of the event. Committee Members: We are in need of at least two committee members. If you are interested in helping with the event, we meet every other week, then weekly as we get closer to the event.
