GRACE AND ETERNAL LIFE

Moses is a man after our own hearts, for haven’t we all dealt with more than our share of stiff-necked people? Indeed, haven’t we all gotten a little stiff-necked our-selves at times? Complaining . . . impatient . . . quick to anger. How lucky for Moses—how lucky for all of us—that God is exactly the opposite! And we don’t even have to guess about it. The Lord tells us so directly. Accord-ingly, Moses does what we all need to do. Even with the tablets in hand, he bows down and asks for God’s for-giveness and grace. Encouraging us to live together in peace—and in God’s favor—the Apostle Paul knows all about this grace, joyfully invoking Christ’s grace on us along with God’s love and the Holy Spirit’s. “Rejoice,” he says. And when it comes to rejoicing, John offers us the gladdest words of all: the assurance of eternal life through Jesus. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — The LORD, merciful and gracious, rich in kindness and faithfulness (Exodus 34:4b-6, 8-9). Psalm — Glory and praise for ever! (Daniel 3). Second Reading — Brothers and sisters, rejoice. Live with one another in peace, and the God of peace will be with you (2 Corinthians 13:11-13). Gospel — God did not send the Son to condemn the world, but to give it abundant life (John 3:16-18). Cathedral Parish News, continued

New Members of the Church Congratulations to Brent Daughdrill, Connie Daughdrill, Danielle McWhorter, Mike Bradley and Brandt Cannon who were received into the Church at a special Mass last Sunday afternoon celebrated by Archbishop Rodi. All five were part of the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) this past year, but were unable to receive their sacraments at the Easter Vigil due to COVID-19. Pentecost Sunday was another wonderful day to do so instead. Congratulations! Disinfectant Help After Mass Help is needed after the Saturday Vigil and Sun-day Masses to disinfect the church, mainly wiping down the pews and other surfaces. Please meet in the back of the church after Mass and volunteer to help. Gloves and rags will be provided. You will not get dirty doing so—and it will only take about 10 minutes. “Many hands make light work.” Family Photos for the Pews If you would like to help fill the marked off pews with a photo of your family, send one to Father Bill. Your name will not be put on the photo.
