Dear Members,

The rains are back in Bangalore but that has not dampened the sprits of our members as footfalls at the Club continue to grow in the month of September. Member participation in events for Seniors, Ladies, Children, iBrowse, iKids and Sports has also increased, showing that there is always demand for good programmes. The trendsetter for the month was the Blue & White Ball which drew a crowd of almost 2000 followed by the Ladies Coee Morning, Onam Sadhya and Elders Picnic which were all sell-outs. The Ladies 5 Km Run for Women’s Health was another well attended event which saw more than 100 women take part, proceeds of this event went to the CCOT towards the health of the girl child. Even as I write this, the iBrowse event for the month of October which is a song & dance theatre event based on Shoba Narayan’s ‘Cows of Bangalore’, a ticketed event which includes dinner, is already sold out. This kind of member response is what encourages the Managing Committee to come out with more and more interesting events. The participation of the members has also encouraged MIC’s to go that extra mile to enhance member experience and make events bigger and better, this in turn has created interest among sponsors to come forward to support some of these events. Thanks to the MIC’s for their eorts and to the sponsors for their support.

Catholic Club Orphans’ Trust held a healthcamp for more than 100 girls at the St. Joseph’s Girls Home. This was the rst time CCOT was holding a medical camp at this Orphanage. The overall health of the children aged 5yrs. to15yrs was checked and various health parameters recorded for evaluation.

President’s Report

The camp itself was wonderfully organised and smoothly conducted by CCOT Chairperson Gilroy D’Silva and his team of doctors and volunteers. Here too member participation was the highlight as for the rst time ever all the doctors who conducted the camp were Club members. Thank you doctors for your support, we need many more like you. Thanks to all the volunteers who attended the medical camp and for helping out

This year’s ‘Festival of Lights’ is going to be totally dierent to what we have been used to for the past few years. The theme is ‘PARTY 4 A CAUSE’ as we join hands to ght the menace of cancer by bringing more awareness about this dreaded disease. The Event will see some of the city’s biggest fashion designers showcase their styles in a choreographed Fashion Show ‘CATWALK 4 THE CURE’ with celebrity models walking the ramp. This will be followed by DJ Hussain spinning some foot-tapping Bollywood music to get the party rolling. We hope that this event will get the deserved response from all members and also achieve the objective of bringing awareness and help in the early detection of Cancer.

Let me once again remind you all that the newsletter is sent only to those who have signed up for the hard copy; for all others it is posted on the Club website and the CC App. For those of you who have not downloaded the CC App please do so as it keeps you posted of all the happenings and gives you details of all the Club programmes.

With lots of holidays and long weekends coming up in October, we look forward to seeing more of you at the Club.

Contributed by - Elaine D'souza"Memory- is a diary that we all carry about with us”- Oscar Wilde.A personal Diary is for you and by you. It is where you keep personal musings about your life.  And this is exactly what we taught our very impressionable young ikidz.  The Art of writing a personal Diary and making a Scrapbook was held on the 9th of Septem-ber 2018.

The kids were given pretty little bound books of handmade paper, to use as their diary and the smaller kids as a scrapbook.  The kids got creative, when asked to deco-rate their cover page. Embellishments and stickers were strategically placed and a works of art were created.  The most import-ant thing of all, the kids were made to write their rst memory in their diary.  Some wrote, some used pictures and some did both, and the rst entry was done and dusted.  A promise was made, that they would write in their journal once a week if not daily.

As usual we had snacks and amazing cup-cakes by Reshma D’souza.  And most of us snagged an extra cupcake including me, a few of them hid their stash! We ended on a musical note, singing “These are a few of my Favourite things!”

iBrowse book for November - 'The Boy Who Loved Trains ' by Deepak Sapra"At any point of time, a number equivalent to the population of Australia is travelling on Indian trains"Deepak Sapra's fascination for trains began as a little boy of 5, when he wanted to be an engine driver. At 10, he knew the whole of the Indian Railways time table, every train, every station, every arrival departure time. When life oered him a chance to run trains in India, it opened up a new world to him. This book, largely autobiographical, tells the story of a young ocer - Jeet Arora - posted in India’s Eastern Railway & responsible for running trains on one of the densest train routes in the country. In doing so, he encounters pretty girls and thugs, shares space with bualoes and goats and nds himself in the midst of oil spills and res and stumbles across several unexpected adventures.iBrowse event 17th November, Saturday.  5pm, CC Ballroom.

The video of the single 'Endless Road' by Aussie band, The Panics, which contained footage from the bicycle journey played on the screen to set the stage & mood for the evening. Dominic Franks, alumni of St Josephs & Bangalore Medical College and currently a lmmaker & freelance sportswriter, in conversation with Ryan Lobo shared insightful and interesting details about his epic 2220 km bicycle ride from Bangalore to Delhi. Showing us various video clippings from the documentary made on his ride, we were treated to a rst-hand glimpse of his journey and experienced his delight and also sometimes his frustration as he encountered the people along the length land breadth of our diverse country. Mr. Shivaprakash, fondly called Shikari, who was Dominic's inspiration for this feat, having blazed the trail that Dominic followed, was also present as our Chief GuestHaving Dominic's bicycle, Nautanki, be the centre of attention in the Catholic Club foyer in the days before the event, generated a palpable buzz and drew a crowd into the Ballroom on DDay!We were thrilled to have 'Millet Amma'

Soul SistersItsy bitsy teeny weeny ...... colourful dots so many ... that's what the ladies were "spotted" in today.

Keeping up with the "polka dot" theme, all the 50 odd regulars came donned with dots in various sizes and colours. The day began with a very informative and interesting presentation by team Trafalgar, a 72-year-old global travel and tour company. Mr Sanjay Temkar, Director of Sales, specially ew in from Singapore to be with us and share his expertise. A few catch phrases from them. “stop dreaming and start living" "invest your time and money and see it appreci-ate". Isn't that an incentive to travel with Comfort Leisure?

Andrea our Soul Sister highly recommended them by sharing her superlative travel experi-ence with Trafalgar.

Our very own Rani was the queen of the day. Her work at CC was appreciated and rewarded.

The 3 games brought out the competitive best amongst the ladies. The icing on the cake was the sumptuous snacks laid out amongst the colourful polka dots. And the chocolate pop...yum.

Everyone was fascinated with the bright and vibrant coloured polka dot photo prop and hanging decor. DJ Shenella added to the festive ambience. It was polka dots all the way includ-ing the gifts and carry bags, not to forget the balloons.

Sabrina Price, a single mom and singer shared her solo travel experience with us. Encouraging the ladies to do the same and not be tied down by inhibitions.

Don't miss the Soul Sisters mornings ladies, we have lots more in store. The world's a stage...so bring out the actress in you. Next month it is "Hollywood Bollywood". See you on Sunday, 21st October at the Hollywood Bollywood theme party!

80 Sassy Seniors set out in 2 busses on the road to EDEN for a picnic. They braved the long journey with games, snacks, songs and jokes with laughter lling the bus.

Adams were there and so were the Eves, but the only forbidden fruit was in the Sangria. An array of dishes was served for lunch and exciting games were organized with prizes galore. Music and laughter all around and wonderful camara-derie. Nothing like bonding in the outdoors.

Each of them was handed a mug of memories and the journey back for one bus was unplugged live entertainment by our very own Philip. The other bus decided that it was going to be a journey of sweet slumber while the rain lashed the windows.

All this brought to us by our Sponsor Mantri Primus and our part sponsors Perry Goes and Mallik Arun. A big shout out to all of them for coming together for our Catholic Club commu-nity.

Last but not the least, like the Pied Piper of Hamlin our team from CC were there to make sure we were all taken care of. Santhosh and our boys, you get a big round of applause from the Sub Committee.
