INTRODUCTORY BOOKS These books are designed to introduce blind and partially sighted children to a variety of visual concepts as well as the touch and sound system used to explain pictures.

� Introductory Book No. 1 Primary for children aged 4 - 7 years. This book contains 10 Feely Pictures and 5 short cassette tapes covering topics such as comparisons between real objects and raised images, relative size and building a picture.

� Introductory Book No. 2 Junior for children aged 7 - 11 years. This book contains 11 Feely Pictures and 5 short cassette tapes – explaining the impact of changing circumstances on a picture e.g. how the same person looks different when they are sitting, kneeling etc.

� Introductory Book No. 3 Secondary for children aged 11 – 16 years. This book contains 11 Feely Pictures and 5 short cassette tapes - covering topics such as body language, facial expressions and “building a landscape”, standing in profile, wearing different clothes etc.

� � Fun with Spot™ Introductory book for Pre-School Children. This book includes the Living Picture Book ‘Spot Goes to the Farm’, simple Feely pictures and a surprise free gift.

LIVING PICTURE BOOKS

A Living Picture Book contains a popular, illustrated children's book, with the main characters translated into raised images which are brightly coloured for the benefit of children with partial sight. These raised images are bound into the book together with clear plastic sheets containing the Braille text, so that the original words and pictures are still visible. An audio commentary explains how to touch and understand the raised images and describes all of the illustrations in the book.

LIVING PICTURE PACKS

Living Picture Packs are companions to audio or Braille books that can be obtained from other sources and are designed to be used at any time during the reading of the book. A Living Picture Pack has a number of raised images, each depicting one or more characters or scenes from the selected book. These raised images are accompanied by audio descriptions. When the raised images are not painted, illustrations are provided for the benefit of partially sighted children.

TEACHER RESOURCE BOOKS

Our Teacher Resource Books are designed to provide blind and partially sighted children access to some of the illustrations that their sighted peers benefit from in the classroom. Each book relates to a topic covered in the National Curriculum at Key Stage 2 and 3 and contains a number of raised images, audio descriptions and coloured illustrations. Guidance notes are also included to assist with the teaching of the book.

TOPICAL BOOKS

This series of books group together images that relate to a particular topic of interest both from a leisure and educational perspective. The books are not designed to tie in specifically with the National Curriculum but provide materials that compliment the teaching of various subjects. As with all Living Paintings books, they contain raised images which are accompanied by audio descriptions. Topical books also include guidance notes.
