Multistage, radially split, vertical can pumps with stage casings and single-suction, radial impellers. Impeller 1st

stage is always a suction impeller, in-ducer is possible. Balance of axial thrust by antifriction bearings, in case of higher difference pressure axial thrust is com-pensated by a balance piston/liner. The cans is only subject to suction pressure, the installation depth and the length of the can depend on NPSH conditions. Same design without can is possible for installation in existing vessels or for in-stallation with flanged connection (see design alternatives). The bearings of the motor lantern are oil-lubricated antifric-tion bearings with rotation independent automatic lubrication by internal oil circu-lation. A hydro-dynamic radial plain bear-ing is on the suction side of the pump. In case of extreme installation depths with liquid-lubricated intermediate bearing. Shaft sealed by packed stuffing box or mechanical seal (single, double or tan-dem seals). Connections for cooling, Flushing or sealing liquid. Suction and discharge branches are arranged at 180° (inline) above the mounting flange. Other branch positions are possible.

Flanges according to DIN or GB, auxil-iary connections have GRC/R threads. Drive by flanged motor via flexible cou-pling (spacer or non-spacer coupling).

The lift-off device It was the development of the lift-off de-vice that made possible the introduction of a vertically suspended pump with magnetic coupling and balance disk. The device ensures a gap between the balancing elements whether the pump is running or not. Metallic contact and pre-mature wear are avoided. Working principle: When at rest, the rotor weight is sup-ported by the magnet force between the inner and outer magnets to avoid contact between the axial balancing disk and sleeve during startup and shutdown. During startup, the axial load increases and eventually overcomes the axial hold-ing force of the device. At that time the balancing disk gap reduces until it self compensates for the axial load. During operation, the balancing disk continues to self compensate for any load changes and maintains a steady rotor position for improved wear life. During shutdown, the axial load reduces as speed reduces and the device overcomes the load and acts to separate the distance between the balance disk and sleeve. Operating successfully on light gravity hydrocarbons and other low lubricity fluids without external thrust bearings,

Safety Plus - Secondary Sealing A secondary sealing safety feature is built in. This eliminates the possibility of leak-age of fluid to the atmosphere and the consequence of damage to the environ-ment. For this purpose a maintenance-free, dry-running gas seal is mounted between the magnetic coupling and the motor. The coupling is sealed by static seals, designed for the maximum allow-able pump pressure and monitored by a pressure switch. If the pump pressure leaks into this space an alarm is triggered shutting the pump down.
