    LG's "Ducted Split" is one of the part of Unitary range meant for high load applications. It has separate out- door unit. The Indoor unit can be placed inside in an isolated space. This also gives variety of air flow and offers flexibility in installation. The unit is used along with ducts and has flexible air flow as per installation conditions. The ranges go from 3 to

    Long refrigerant piping offers additional advantage indoor and outdoor units to have long distance in between.

    Apart from common features, this unit offers some unique features like Multi Speed blower, Light weight & Compact design, Long refrigerant piping etc.

    A lot of information regarding the design & installation of this system is provided in this publication. This new products series contains data on the same pattern.

    W aterproof cabinets are constructed of galvanized steel with powder coating. Compact size enables the unit to be installed in limited space. Condenser fin guard is designed for safety against sharp edge of outdoor coil. Tight Top Cover and Cabinet

    - The units incorporate two or three layers top cover. The two or three piece layers overlaps in such a way that water cannot leak into the unit. These overlapped edges are gasketed and sealed to ensure water resistance and leak proof system.

    Durable, dependable components

    LG Ducted split unit have been rigorously life tested at the factory more than 1 500 hours. All of LG Outdoor units were rigorously rain tested at the factory to ensure water tight integrity. Actual shipping tests are performed to determine the best packing. Units are shipped around the country to

    obtain the best packaging test result. These test assure that the unit will arrive at your job site in best condition.

    We perform 100% coil leak test at the factory. The indoor coil and outdoor coils are leak tested at 200psig and pressure tested to 500psig respectively.

    Every unit goes under full run test to meet LG standards requirements. Before units are shipped, 5 units which are selected by sampling are STLT(Short Time Life Test) tested more

    than 300 hours.

    Pr oduct quality and reliability

    All LG Ducted split units undergo overload cooling tested(ambient temp is 129 F). In this condition, units oper- ated continuously without any problem.

    Cooling & Fan Operation - LG ducted split air conditioners can provide cooling & fan operation. In the cooling mode, it cools the air with

    an operation range of 18~30C. In the fan operation mode, only indoor fan at the selected speed will run, out- door fan and compressor will be off.

    Basic & Optional Features

    Electric Heater:(Accessory) - Electric Heater can be used to provide heat in addi-

    tion to cycle heat. It also provides quick heating. It can also work as a stand alone heater with only fan operation.

    Electronic Thermostat:(Accessory) - It provides on/off timer up to 24 hours. Also self-

    diagnose the problem.

    LG s Outdoor Heat Exchanger is coated with agolden anti-corrosive epoxy treatment on the alu-minum coil to minimized corrosion. This maintainsheat transfer properties of the coil for an extend-ed time where as non-Gold Fin coils progressivelylose efficiency due to surface corrosion.     Step 4. The capacity estimated at step #3 is the gross capacity of the selected unit. The generatedheat from indoor motor is a function of cfm & static pressure. The total unit static pressure isas follows:

    Evaporator fan motor performance table has deducted the pressure drop for filter already in theunit. Therefore, the actual total static pressure is 0.20 in.Aq. With 2 100 cfm and 0.20 in.Aq, table-17 shows 0.47 BHP for this unit. FAN MOTOR HEAT;

    Now subtract the fan motor heat from the gross cooling capacity of the unit;

    Step 5. If the selected unit performance will not meet the required load, either total or sensible cooling,the next higher size unit should be selected.

    Step 1. Calculate the building heating load using the ASHRAE calculation or from other standardaccepted method.

    Step 2. The required heating capacity is 32 000 Btu/h.The electric heat acessory capacities are listed in table-20.From the table-16 select, 10 kW electric heater with output34.14 MBH = 34 140Btu/h.

    Electric Heating

    Step 4. The capacity estimated at step #3 is the gross capacity of the selected unit. The generated heatfrom indoor motor is a function of l/s & static pressure. The total unit static pressure is as follows:

    Evaporator fan motor performance table has deducted the pressure drop for filter already in the unit.Therefore, the actual total static pressure is 5.08mm Aq. With 991 l/s and 5.08mm Aq, table-18 shows 0.35 BkW for this unit. FAN MOTOR HEAT;

    Now subtract the fan motor heat from the gross cooling capacity of the unit;

    Step 5. If the selected unit performance will not meet the required load, either total or sensible cooling, thenext higher size unit should be selected.

    Step 1. Calculate the building heating load using the ASHRAE calculation or from other standard acceptedmethod.

    Step 2. The required heating capacity is 9.4 kW (given).

    The electric heat accessory capacities are listed in table- . From the table select, 10kW ElectricHeater with output 34.14MBH = 34 140Btu/h.
