Vulcan Drying Systems Indirect Rotary Dryers rely on the heat transferred through the drum’s shell to dry the material via conduction and radiation to reduce the material’s moisture content. Indirect drying allows you to tightly control the processing environment, an ideal characteristic when working with materials that can be combustible or where higher temperatures are required to remove bound water. Our indirect dryer units can have tumbling flights (optional) and an air stream heat exchanger (optional) mounted in the combustion chamber stacks to utilize waste heat to heat sweep air and increase drying efficiency.

Vulcan Drying Systems Indirect Rotary Dryers come in standard sizes ranging from a 3’ diameter x 15’ long heat zone to an 8’ diameter x 40’ long heat zone. Our modular approach allows you to pick the indirect kiln size, air pollution control, or vapor recovery equipment to best suit your unique project. Vulcan Drying Systems Natural Gas Burner Assemblies for dryer applications come as a prepackaged burner unit. This includes an Eclipse Ratiomatic BurnerMatic burner, natural gas fuel train, burner controller, and push button relay logic control panel. These burner assemblies are specifically designed for rotary dryer applications and can be mounted directly to the dryer burner mounting plate or to a Vulcan Drying Systems Dryer Combustion Box. A combustion box is normally used with heat sensitive materials that need to be kept from direct contact with the flame.

Vulcan Drying Systems Live Bottom Feeders are a great option for any of our drying systems or an existing system. Consistent drying requires a consistent feed rate, and our units are a simple, rugged way to meter the flow of material into your process. With sizes ranging from a single 6” screw up to a large triple 12” screw, we have a size or set up to fit your feed rate needs. We use sectional screws with thick ¼” flights on large diameter pipes to minimize screw deflection and give a long trouble free life.

Options include a grizzly screen on the hopper, oversized hopper, VHMW hopper lining, built-in load cell sensors and stainless steel construction.

Vulcan Drying Systems Pulse Jet Baghouses come modularized to fit a wide range of flows. Our standard models can range the full air-to-cloth ratio spectrum from as low as 4 fpm to as high as 12 fpm. Modules have a cloth area of 1,206 in a single unit and up to 6,030 sq. ft. with 5 modules. Multiple modules can be configured to meet various applications. Vulcan Drying Systems Baghouses are designed and manufactured in the USA with continuing innovation and attention to detail. Constructed from #12 gauge carbon steel with continuous weld external seams and stitch welded internal seams.Our unit is reinforced to easily handle +/-20” W.C. and comes with a magnetic pressure gauge and air reservoir. Each module has 64 top loading cages with high temperature filter bags. The clean air plenum with lift off top doors provide easy access to the filter bags and cages. The pulse cleaning system has a compressed air header pipe, diaphragm valves, and solenoid valves in a NEMA 4 enclosure, with tubing installed between the 2 valves. The solenoids are actuated from our solid state sequential timer board for optimum performance.

Consistent drying requires a consistent feed rate, and our units are a simple, rugged way to meter the flow of material into your process. With sizes ranging from a single 6” screw up to a large triple 12” screw, we have a size or set up to fit your feed rate needs. We use sectional screws with thick ¼” flights on large diameter pipes to minimize screw deflection and give a long trouble free life.Options include a grizzly screen on the hopper, over-sized hopper, UHMW hopper lining, built in load cell sensors, and stainless steel construction. Vulcan Drying Systems Oil Water Separators are designed for the most demanding industrial environments. They are made from heavy gauge carbon steel and coated inside with epoxy paint for years of trouble free service. The standard polypropylene media is clog resistant and can withstand higher temperatures than PVC. Our large built in oil storage reservoirs reduce the oil pump out intervals. We have sizes that can handle up to 250 gallons per minute of effluent in a single unit with the largest unit still being readily transportable.

Options include: stainless steel construction, magnetic level indicators, stainless media, and fully air tight lid with vent line.

The Vulcan Drying Systems Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizer has been specifically designed to destroy a waste stream rich with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) from Vulcan Drying Systems Thermal Desorption Systems. Alternatively, the unit can be utilized for applications with up to 800 SCFM of contaminated air from industrial and chemical processes.Our units have a pilot burner, pre-piped with a NFPA 86 compliant fuel train that can utilize either fuel oil or gas. This unit has a maximum operating temperature up to 2,000°F (1,093°C) with up to 99.99% destruction removal efficiency (DRE). The ceramic fiber modules are coated with a rigidizing compound to increase the maximum velocity for optimal performance. Dual flame arrestors are included for safety. The modular design allows for an easy solution to increase residence time.Our oxidizers are designed and manufactured in the USA for reliability and regulatory compliance yet still offer a low cost and effective thermal abatement solution. If our standard unit does not fit your application, we can custom tailor a solution for your air pollution control problem.

Vulcan Drying Systems Indirect Fired Thermal Desorption Unit and Vapor Recovery System is designed to provide a complete recycling process. This unit is designed around parameters for the recovery of diesel/oil based drilling fluids from drill cuttings, however our team can design a system for your unique material.The process begins with material being delivered to the hopper on the live bottom feed (LBF) which meters the material flow. The incline feed conveyor takes the material from the LBF and empties into the slide gate air lock. The air lock is connected to the kiln feed screw which deposits the material into the primary thermal unit (PTU). The material cascades through the drum heat zone. The vapor is pulled counter currently into the insulated cyclone. The cyclone knocks down the large particulates before the vapor enters the 1st stage condensing tower for oil removal.

The oil from the tower is gravity fed to the oil tank and pumped to the shell and tube heat exchanger for recirculation in the 1st condensing tower. The vapor continues on to the 2nd stage condensing tower for further cooling to remove oil and water which continues downstream to the oil water separator (OWS). The OWS settles out the dirt and other contaminates and feeds both the water and oil tanks that feed the condensing towers. The water tank also feeds the water jacketed discharge conveyor which recirculates to the 2nd condensing tower. Vapor from the 2nd stage condensing tower is pulled into the 3rd stage condenser for cooling to below ambient temperature for a final condensate of any remaining oil and water. The final stage for the vapor is the thermal oxidizer for oxidation of any remaining non-incondensable material.
