Like a flying object SpiderCam is able tomove in 3d-space: just touching theground, it flies high in the sky again,fast and noiseless.A traction rope system fixed at fourpoles keeps the camera in a 2-axisremotehead in position. Four motor winches are installed at-grade, each of them is winding a rope runningthrough pulleys. Each winch weighs 290kg and measures 850x1500x900 mm,alternatively 175kg measuring 650x1250x650 mm . The four winches are connec-ted circularily with a multiple fiber optic cable connected with the control unit atthe operator desk. The winches should be positioned perpendictularly under thepulleys

Each of the four ropes is loaded with a maximum tractive force of 80kg. That means a caternary sag of 10% - this is equivalent to approximately 1/10 of thediagonal distance. A distance of 150 m matches a sag of 15 m. An operating altitu-de of e.g. 20 m requires suspension points fixed at a height of 35 m

The power for the camera is supplied by four storage batteries which have to bechanged after 6-8 hours. The dolly is protected against rain and it is two-axis gyrostabilized

The PMT Tapedolly is able to cope withstraight distances as well as with curvesand extremly narrow radii without thenecessity of using tracks, as it is running ona special adhesive tape. With this tape anykind of route arrangement can be defined,it is also possible to create several variableroutes if different scenarios are required.This can easily be done with the „pathma-ker“, a special tool that unwinds the tapefast and precisely. Compared to other stan-dard tracking systems, the flexible tracklayout on site is a big advantage of theTapedolly. Tripping hazards caused by trackbars will be a thing of the past.
