Schwarz Etienne was established in the city

of La Chaux-de-Fonds during the Golden

Age of Swiss watchmaking. Paul Arthur

Schwarz and his wife Olga Etienne, founders

of the brand in 1902, created what has

become a forerunner of the watch industry.

The unique identity of La Chaux-de-Fonds,

a city built by and for the watchmaking

industry, was recently recognized when it

achieved UNESCO World Heritage status.

The growing reputation that Schwarz

Etienne has enjoyed overtime has seen the

company produce watches for prestigious

brands including Dunhill, Coventry-Jaguar,

Chanel, Mauboussin, Caran d’Ache, Mellerio

dits Meller, Waterman and Bally.

C. Wilhelm & Cie SA, marks the beginning

of its association with sole shareholder

Raffaello Radicchi, who took over Schwarz

Etienne in 2003 and a recent revival

heralded by the emergence of new markets

and propelled by a continuous evolution.

Schwarz Etienne has always been

revered as a creator and manufacturer

of high value and innovative

mechanical timepieces and movements.

These movements are principally

intended for the brand’s own

products and for a specific clientele,

appreciative of extraordinary feats

of craft and exceptional design.

The La Chaux-de-Fonds collection pays tribute to this unique watchmaking

town and its master-craftsmen who have created and produced so many

exceptional watches. Each piece is unique: infused with the spirit of the

Art Nouveau movement, of which the Neuchâtel mountains have preserved

many concrete testimonies, it reveals a delightful transparency offering a

visual journey to the very centre of time.

Swiss manufacturer Schwarz Etienne

presents its latest exceptional creation in

rose gold, in white gold Palladium 210 or

steel casing: the Tourbillon La Chaux-de-

Fonds TSE timepieces. Whether housed in

rose gold, grey or steel casing, their intricate

and exquisite conception and the masterful

and careful craft of their watchmakers

becomes immediately apparent. In the form of

Irréversible, the timepieces are blessed with

a mechanical movement with an automatic

winding mechanism. The tourbillon wheel,

raised and given prominence at 1 o’clock offers

a privileged view of this feature by providing a

genuine sense of depth. Furthermore, the micro-

rotor, decentred at 9 o’clock, bestows a complexity

to this exceptional timepiece and an audacity

through a most ingenious mechanical combination.

The Tourbillon TSE features a power reserve of

three and a half days.

The dials, whether silver or anthracite-esque,

possess a grained flange – a recognisable trademark

of Schwarz Etienne. Designed to be both legible

and structured, these dials live in harmony with the

motors which drive them. At the same time bringing to

life three key components – the barrel, micro-rotor and

the tourbillon. The hours of the dial, stylised in Roman

numerals, the gold models have applique Roman

numeral hour makers while the steel version models

makers are cut out and coated with green superluminova.

The hand-sewn alligator bracelets, available in shades of

black, grey or brown seamlessly match the tone of the

dials and are animated by the vivid colours of their lining.

LIMITED EDITION OF 200 PIECES

Following the presentation of a new movement and

a range of timepieces in 2015, Schwarz Etienne now

introduces ‘Voyage’ from its Roswell collection.

An original calibre model, this is an exceptional,

refined and distinctive timepiece. Among its

foremost features, is a water and airtight capsule

sealed underneath the calibre, designed to protect

a fragment of rock from the most famous of Swiss

mountains. One carved according to its recognisable

profile and delicately placed on an aerial blue

background. A precious feature which offers a veritable

piece of Switzerland – the watchmaking country – and

confides its owner with a treasured secret.

The Roswell Voyage travels in its distinctive steel case

– one which crowns the Irréversible Schwarz Etienne

(ISE) manufactured movement. An inverted movement

it offers a glimpse of both the balance wheel and the

decentred microrotor at 9 o’clock. Its peculiarity lies in

the laser-cut oscillating weight cover which carves out

a silhouette of the emblematic Swiss mountain and its

distinctive north face.

The timepiece’s black dial is enhanced by a ‘sunburst’

whose rays escape from the small second hand at 11

o’clock to complete the scene of a sun rising from behind

a mountainous peak. Hence, when the celestial body of the

day rises and its counterpart in the evening sets, a perpetual

dialogue is established between their visible and hidden sides.

With the launch of its Roswell collection, Schwarz Etienne

heralded the discovery of a new universe. Now it is time to

continue the expedition into the heart of the Swiss Alps, with a

timepiece like no other.

Power

The innovative point of the MSE conception,

entirely conceived and developed by Schwarz

Etienne, is a mechanism with two barrels

coupled in parallel. That exclusive construc-

tion allows distributing exceptional power of

1.55 µw at the escapement of each additional

module.

This movement has already been through

numerous wear and solidity tests and has

achieved brilliant results. Its power and ro-

bustness guarantee the indispensable quali-

ties present in any high-end movement: reli-

ability, durability and precision.

Modularity

Like other Schwarz Etienne creations,

the development of the MSE movement is

based on the concepts of modularity and

rationalization.

This innovative and patented construction

is made of one common plate and one

interchanging part that can fit either a

module with an additional barrel linked in

parallel (MSE movement) or a micro rotor

module (ASE movement).

Moreover, the MSE has been designed to

integrate complication modules conceived

by Schwarz Etienne’s technical office. The

second time zone indication (GMT) and

the power reserve indicator (PRI) are even

included in the volume of the original basic

movement. Furthermore, the power reserve

display can be positioned at 09:00 or 01:30.

This modular philosophy allows anticipating

future declinations of the movement to

respond to high-end market requirements

and satisfy the demands of customers.

It combines reactivity, flexibility and

competitiveness.
