2010 “Pilgrimage for Peace” Geumgang, Nature Art Biennale, Korea
This project is a pilgrimage for peace done on over 54 km around Gongju town. “Draw a line and follow it” was a
concept of Fluxus in 1960’s that inspired me for this work.
The form of the route is a symbolic drawing, depiction of a one heart double-headed Siamese twin. A symbol of
duality which exists in us and is deeply burnt in Korean culture through the idea of the yin-yang. It also symboliz-
es the South and North Korea, two heads, two kind of rational, political thinking and one heart that is the nation.
In my drawing the heart is The Yeonmisan Mountain, a symbol of the national integrity.
The walk is a line drawing that I make on the earth with the help of a GPS (Geographic Positioning System) .
The drawing will be a redefinition of the environment and natural formations around Gongju town.
On the way I stamp, tags of the twins on different surfaces and I recorded the enviroment.
In the exhibition there was a projection of the movie that is an outcome of the jouney.
This film was mounted together with the drawing showing exactly where the recording was done.
