unwavering commitment to acoustic guitar quality,

The Alvarez line is all-inclusive, from the Regent Series

entry-level guitars, all the way up to the Masterworks

Series of professional guitars which offer superb tone

via solid backs, tops and sides. Regardless of the player,

their ability or their budget, Alvarez has a quality

instrument that has been custom-designed for that

purpose.

The Yairi line is the very definition of quality. They are

hand-crafted in an old-fashioned workshop, hidden

in the still beauty of the Japanese mountain village of

Gifu. When other guitar companies were building large,

computerized factories, master luthier Kazuo Yairi was

buying wood. While others move to simpler, less human

techniques, Yairi continues to use slower, traditional

construction methods like the labor-intensive dovetail

neck joint and hand-shaped bracing. Alvarez Yairi guitars

are offered in a variety of standard body shapes, sizes

and finish details. Each guitar is a one-of-a-kind work of

art, with its own unique tone and aesthetic beauty.

As a company, Alvarez continuously develops innovative

features for our top-of-the-line instruments and then

incorporates these improvements into the entire

product line. The majority of Alvarez and Alvarez Yairi

instruments get a rigorous final inspection and setup,

ensuring each guitar is individually optimized for

the Yairi Classical Series guitar. Perhaps the deep warm bass of Indian rosewood or the

The ADY1 Ani DiFranco model is a cutaway folk featuring an extra-deep

mahogany body with a Canadian cedar top, resulting in a tuneful combination of

sweetness, volume and clarity. Show stopping cosmetics are based around Ani’s

unique pickguard design. Visually stunning, the design affords the cedar top

protection from Ani’s highly percussive playing technique.

Based on Monte’s battered 1987 DY62C, the MMY1 features the broken-in vibe

of a distressed spruce top and a laminated mahogany/maple neck designed to

withstand the intense stress of a Monte Montgomery performance.

Bob Weir was instrumental in the development of the Yairi WY Series of

performance guitars. Based on the specifications of Bob’s original prototype

WY1, and enhanced with a distinctive 12th fret “lightning bolt” inlay, the WY1BW

features a custom designed preamps/EQ system utilizing an internal condenser mic

and bridge piezo blended with a unique crossover-based design.

TIME HONORED HAND-CRAFTED WORKS OF ART.

Over and over, those fortunate enough to work with Kazuo Yairi

have been struck with the parallels between this guitar artisan and

other fine artists. Kazuo Yairi is a master luthier and craftsman. Just

as other artists have done through the centuries, he began serving

this apprenticeship when he was eleven years old. With careful and

meticulous guidance he learned to plan, design and execute exquisite

guitars. By the time he completed his apprenticeship, his guitars

were recognized as being of superior quality in both appearance and

function. The pieces he creates can be compared to works of art.

Indeed, his guitars are literally pieces of functional sculpture.

After more than 30 years, the Alvarez Guitar Shop has developed the most

comprehensive pre-sale inspection and adjustment procedure in the industry.

The majority of Alvarez and Alvarez Yairi guitars receive a detailed inspection

to ensure that only instruments of the highest quality find their way to the

customer’s hands. Instruments go through an advanced setup process that

includes a full fretboard level and dress, filing of nut slots, multiple neck/

truss rod adjustments and exacting bridge saddle measurements. This

ensures perfect intonation and unparalleled playability.

It is the human element that can take a good instrument and make it great.
