Casual Industrees was started during the winter of 98/99 on Mt. Baker by Dan and Brendan Reid, after they got fired from Mt. Baker. By the end of winter, the brothers had a plan in store. The damage deposit from their house would be used to start a clothing company, since all they wore when they weren’t rid-ing was their hoodies, they started off with hoodies that were sold out of the trunk of Brendan’s Subaru. A few years and several orders later Casual Industrees moved into a house in West Seattle. Over the years interns became full time employ-ees, the basement became our office, and the garage was transformed into a screen printing machine. After everything fell into place, The Multi-Hundred Dollar Company was in full effect. Casual Industrees is run out of a house, designed in a base-ment and made in a garage. Winter is our favorite time of year. Without snowboarding there would be no Casual Industrees. What other pastime al-lows so much freedom. All you’ve got to do is strap a board to your feet and you are transformed into a low level super hero, able to leap small buildings in a single bound, fly down a mountain at break neck speeds, and enjoy copious amounts of the white stuff with your friends all day long.

We draw a lot of our inspiration from what transpires during the winter. Photos from the chairlift, taglines from the moun-tain, art from friends we met through snowboarding, and of course great times after the lifts stop and the celebrating be-gins. We are especially proud this year to have had the opportu-nity to work with Chris Brunkhart. Chris’ selection of photo-graphs from the nineties is second to none. He is a great guy and was one of the few early 90’s photographers to capture snowboarding during its golden age. We hope you enjoy this catalog as much as we did making it. Everything’s better on the mountain. Lastly we want to honor a great friend we lost this last winter, Chris Rudolph, Chris we will never forget you and thanks for all the great memories.

We found this photo in an old book of snowboarding photo-graphs we had called “Sick”. We had to have it for a shirt, so we contacted the photographer Justin Hostynek (of Absinthe films) and he was down to let us use it! He had to dig the original non-digital photo out of his massive collection of archived works, with the stipula-tion that we would send it back.

Just like Maverick and Goose showed us in Top Gun, having a wingman is key on and off the hill.

An epic night followed by a “sick day” with 5 friends.... “Uh yeah, (cough cough) I’m sick today and I’m not gonna make it into work. I don’t want to give everyone in the office whatever I’ve got.”

The name says it all. After a long eventful journey to the mountain, we got what we were looking for. This picture reminds me of the ex-citement you feel right before you reach the top and drop in.
