I am so impressed with the commitment to following the work from home and as ever want to sincerely thank you all for the superb efforts. I know it is not easy to keep the motivation going .This week alone I have seen some superb sentences, lovely summer artwork including terrific beach scenes , an amazing chalk masterpiece and some fantastic baking including a plaited currant loaf and one delicious birthday cake! This week Ms.Gleeson has sent a Kahoot survey for parents to complete in lieu of one day’s work.

Daily school continues each day on RTE between 11-12 a.m. (This is geared for first to sixth classes but may be of interest to some!)

Tg 4 (Gaeilge version of school at home) at 10am will contain some subjects suitable for younger ages . The Irish word for infants is Naíonáin and your child might recognise some of the Gaeilge topic

The theme being explored by the teachers on Cúla4 ar Scoil this week is ‘At Home’. Caitríona will interview the wolf from the story The Three Little Pigs and rewrite the story from the wolf’s perspective. He isn’t the baddie in the story at all, who would have known?! In the history lesson, Caitríona will teach sequences by putting pictures from this and other stories in the correct order. Materials used to build houses will be explored in the science lesson and in the music lesson, Caitríona creates graphic symbols of household sounds and uses them to make music.

After Fiachra the auctioneer (teacher in role) shows us various homes from around the country, we learn how to describe our own home to entice people to buy it. In the art lesson, Fiachra builds the bedroom of his dreams by using recycled materials from the home.

In the geography lesson, Fiachra looks at homes from around the globe and explores one of the major issues of our community at the moment ‘Homelessness’ in the SPHE lesson.

In the maths lesson both teachers will help us identify and expand patterns. Fiachra will explore the rules and properties of sequences in
