Rodeo Mayhem

The sound of cheering and screaming filled my

ears as the barrel racer

and her trusty stead ran out the gate

and around the first barrel.

As I turned, in the corner of my eye I saw the

colours of the fireworks fill the sky.

As I look around I can see the crowd going wild as

the commentator reads out the final results.

I was at the Quirindi Rodeo with all my friends.

We couldn't stop talking about how we wish that

could be us riding around those barrels,

or pulling the rope tight as it goes around the

calve's neck.

My only fear is that I wont be good enough!

By Gigi Fleming

The Party!

The sound of high pitched screaming fills my red,

throbbing ears.

I can see huge green slobbering monsters coming

towards me and huge yellow teeth ready to

bite me.

I feel disgusted and worried.

The taste of salty saliva hits me like a wave.

It hits me at the back of my throat.

I am touching the yellow teeth, grubby hands or

are they touching me?

The feeling makes me feel like I'm half eaten.

The smell of salt makes my nose cringe.

I am being eaten!

Oh my poor cake friends and me.

I'm just a piece of cake!

Visiting Guest Speakers

Last week Mikey Day from Blackcomb Barbershop

and Luke Simpson from Bundjalung Fitness joined

with our very own Harold ‘Bucky’ Torrens, who

works at our school, to speak to students from

Year 11 and 12 about culture, respect and directed

the TAP classes through some fitness routines.

After a BBQ lunch Mikey, Luke and Bucky spoke

to us about their own personal lives and the

importance of communicating respectfully as well

as the importance of being a positive role model to

others. Everyone enjoyed themselves and learnt

something and we all appreciated them coming in

and giving up their time to talk to us.
