On completion of the borehole, a fully sealed above ground chamber was constructed to stop surface run off or other above ground contaminants entering the borehole. A pump test was completed to identify the yield of the borehole which allowed us to plan for the next phase. Our solution to power the pump was to install solar panels with a generator back up. The output of the pump was matched to the yield of the borehole which in turn dictated the number of solar panels required. The six panels were installed into a frame which was firmly anchored to the ground. Permanent fencing was erected around the installation to stop the horses coming into contact with the panels. The Solution:

After studying the prognosis report for this property, Jackson Drilling knew the target borehole depth was approximately 42m below ground level and the target aquifer was the sandstone of the Weald Clay Formation. Jackson Drilling successfully drilled and constructed a borehole to 45m.

The system is controlled by a switch. During daylight hours, when the switch is turned on, the pump will activate and water will flow into the drinking troughs.

Our client is extremely happy with the system and once in operation the running costs are extremely low as it utilises the energy of the sun.

Our client came to Jackson Drilling requiring a water borehole which would provide water for his horses. The field in which the borehole was to be located was some distance away from the house and as such the borehole and installation would have to be completely off grid.

The Solution:

An initial borehole was drilled to 115m. The geology didn’t make our lives easy with the borehole collapsing at depth. Eventually, the borehole was installed.

Unfortunately, borehole one didn’t yield enough water for the intended purpose. The client made the decision to move the borehole location and try again.

The services of a water diviner were utilised to identify the location of borehole two. The drill rig was moved and set up.

The borehole was drilled to 174m. From 105m onwards, there were no returns coming out of the borehole, so the presence and quantity, if any, of water was unknown!

The decision was made to install the borehole with PVC well screens and for a test pump to be undertaken. Following the test pump, the yield of the borehole was found to be more than adequate for the intended use.

Borehole two was consequently installed with a pump, fitted with a manhole chamber and trenches were dug to install the electric cable and water pipe.

If you think you would benefit from a Water Borehole, deep or shallow, please do not hesitate to contact Jackson Drilling using the details below.

The Problem:

Due to the construction of a new shower block and toilet facilities, our client required a new water supply. Our client decided a borehole would suit their needs best owing to the low lifetime costs of a borehole in comparison with a mains supply.
