THE REQUIREMENTS

THE SOLUTION

DekorBound was chosen for two reasons, the first that by being pliable at the timeof application and trowel applied, the problem of varying substrate depths could beeasily overcome. The second reason was the finish that it provided - the ‘wow’factor that Marston’s were looking for.

At first the installer had planned to use a removable edging to create the required chequerboard design, however the DekorGrip Team advised that the removal of these edges could damage the surface and make it look untidy. They suggested theuse of aluminium edging, which would enhance the design, whilst at the same timemake the laying of the chequerboard much more straightforward and easy to complete within the time limit, this was accepted and installation work began.

The aluminium edging was first laid at 1000mm centres in diagonal chequerboard design and once in place, the relatively simple tasks of infilling with one colour, following afterwardwith the second.

Marston’s chose two contrasting blends for the surface – Roasted Red and NaturalWicker, which worked very well. The Roasted Red was installed first using DekorGrip’sUV Stonebinder with some additional catalyst to ensure that the Natural Wicker could be laid as soon as the Roasted Red was completed and meant that progress was notheld up and in total the whole job was completedin a little over 5 hours.

Marston’s were extremely pleased with thefinish and plan to put DekorGrip surfacesin a number of other public houses whenthey are due for refurbishment.
