ABB’s new AMG low voltage marine application generators have been developed to deliver optimum performance in demand- ing marine conditions while fully complying with the require- ments of the classification societies. The new generators are available in IEC frame sizes 400-630. They are designed for use with MAN’s new-generation L16/24, L21/31 and L27/38 engines, and can also be used with the clas- sic L23/30H and L28/32H lower speed engines. AMG marine generators are extremely robust and reliable. The rotor features rigid construction with salient poles, and the complete winding system is vacuum pressure impregnated (VPI) to withstand all the mechanical and electrical stresses encountered during operation. ABB’s application expertise – built up through long-standing working relationships with MAN and other leading engine manufacturers – ensures smooth integration of diesel engines and generators. MAN Diesel certificate of approval for AMG marine series gen-erators

MAN Diesel A/S signed the approval certificate for ABB’s AMG 0400, 0500, 0560 and 0630 marine application series generators on May 28, 2009 at its facility in Holeby, Denmark.

The first factory acceptance test (FAT) and classification test (DNV) for this generator type were undertaken at ABB’s new Nanchang generator factory in September, 2008. The generat-ing set test was conducted at MAN Diesel’s Denmark plant in February, 2009.

After analyzing the results, MAN’s technical staff confirmed that the generators had passed all the tests. They also stated that they were impressed with the high quality of the test equipment, the commitment and professionalism of the test engineers, and the overall cleanliness of the entire Nanchang generator factory.
