The day was celebrated by inviting local supporters from the public, private and voluntary sectors to meet the trainees.

A special 30th anniversary cake was cut by Hull City Council Leader Councillor Stephen Brady who said “Congratulations to CASE for supporting hundreds of vulnerable adults with learn-ing disabilities for 30 years. From humble beginnings in a church hall, CASE now has a wonder-ful Centre of Excellence. This just shows the commitment and

determination of everyone in-volved to see CASE develop into the fantastic centre it is today.

CASE do vitally important work to help people with learning disabilities become more inde-pendent. Hull City Council and our various Lord Mayor’s Char-ity Appeals are proud to have supported CASE throughout the years. We hope that companies across Hull and the East Rid-ing will join us in congratulating CASE and continue to give their support over the coming years.”

Kevin Corbett Chief execu-tive of CASE added “CASE is all about people, those we work with and those we work for. The trainees and their families or carers remain the focus and the driver of all we aspire to.

Improving lives is our goal and with the help and support of all those we work with we shall continue to strive to make that all important difference.”

On the 23rd September 2015 CASE celebrated 30 years of supporting adults with learning disabilities.

CASE NEWSLETTER 7

It is with great sadness I have to tell of the passing of two long-time friends of CASE – Linda Scaum and Keith Dodsworth.

Sadly Linda passed away in Febru-ary this year and Keith in July, both after a long illness.

Keith was a long time supporter of CASE, being involved from the ear-liest days as a parent and ever since offering advice, guidance and sup-port.

Keith increased his involvement particularly from the turn of the millennium and became a Trustee in 2007. His telling con-tribution to Case management and Board of Trustees is sadly missed.

Linda joined CASE as Training Manager in 1999 and was instru-

mental in the design and implementation of our Lifelink transi-tion programme for young people.

In the words of Terry Rust our Chair, Linda was an inspirational manager.

Linda was Deputy Manager for several years before her retire-ment when she joined the CASE Board of Trustees.

We all miss Linda’s unique personality her wisdom and thought for others.

Both Linda and Keith in their individual ways made massive and key contributions to CASE and to improving lives of Train-ees and their families.

Our thoughts remain with their families.

Everyone at CASE will always love, remember and miss them both.

Kevin Corbett
