Welcome to the Windy hill casablanca Gala!

Your support has been so critical to the programs and services we provide to the Windy Hill community. Once again, the proceeds from tonight’s event go towards the funding of these services. Last year, in addition to helping fund day to day programming, the gala enabled us to add a third bus so that we could take our residents on outings and trips. We were also able to boost our education fund. We are so grateful for your friendship to Windy Hill’s families.

It has been proven that putting a roof over a family’s head or even a single senior’s head can be the beginning of a journey towards a better life. We know that once our residents feel their housing is more stable, they can focus on other aspects of their lives. Children, knowing they have a place they can call home, can concentrate on school instead of worrying where they are going to be living next month or even next week. Parents can start planning, whether saving for the purchase of a new home or for college for their children.

Educating Windy Hill’s children remains a top priority of our programming. We believe this is the most effective use of our resources in breaking the cycle of instability for low-income families. Building on the success of past years’ galas, tonight’s “Raise the Paddle” is dedicated entirely to education, with an emphasis on critical early childhood development. With your generosity, we can support, encourage, and enrich the youngest of our Windy Hill residents.

We hope to offer each of our young families the opportunity for pre-k and early educational support. Tonight, we can fund this new initiative, “From Nest to Wings,” but only with your support!

In the past, Windy Hill has asked you to raise your paddle to purchase buses to transport our children, families, and seniors, as well as to raise scholarship funds for our high school graduates. You responded with opens hearts and as a result, Windy Hill currently has three buses, all of which are used almost daily, and five residents in college, with more on the horizon!

Tonight, we are asking for your support for our youngest children. Windy Hill is developing a partnership with local Montessori schools to open doors to education for our pre-school age residents. In addition to offering critical early childhood education, the program also offers support and guidance to the parents of these youngsters. We are calling this dual initiative “From Nest to Wings.”

Research has proven the benefits of early childhood education. Children, and especially low-income children, who attend quality pre-K programs reap benefits that last not only through their school years, but into adulthood. Studies show that students in pre-school programs are up to 25 percent more likely to stay in school, 60 percent more likely to attend college, 40 percent less likely to become a teen parent, and 70 percent less likely to be arrested for a violent crime. Windy Hill believes this is an investment worth making.

We ask you to raise your paddle high to ensure that Windy Hill’s pre-schoolers have the tools they need to be prepared for school and will be ready for the journeys ahead of them. In addition, the dollars raised will continue to support the scholarship fund so our graduates can continue to take flight.

YOUR donation will directly impact the lives of Windy Hill’s children in immeasurable ways from their early years to their bright futures.

For over 35 years, legendary zany bandleader Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra have been thrilling audiences around the world

with their sophisticated celebration of the music and style of the early Jazz Age and Swing Era. Doc recently announced his retirement,

passing his baton to his dazzling wife and long-time featured vocalist, the incomparable Chou Chou.

Tonight will be Doc’s final performance as bandleader. Join us for a Night in Casablanca, where we’ll say, one last time,

Each year, proceeds from the annual Gala go to support the work of the Windy Hill Foundation Family Development Committee (FDC). The Committee is dedicated to providing services and implementing programs that will help Windy Hill residents make life better for themselves and their families.
