Francesco Antonioni was born in 1971, into afamily of musicians. At conservatory he ma-

jored in piano and composition. He studied underAzio Corghi at the Santa Cecilia National Aca -demy in Rome, where he earned a master’s de-gree in composition. He went on receive a QueenElizabeth the Queen Mother scholarship, andstudied under Julian Anderson and George Ben-jamin at the Royal College of Music in London,where he also won the Marjorie and DorothyWhyte Memorial Award. His music, always ap-preciated for its originality and independence,has been performed by major orchestras and fes-tivals, including the Santa Cecilia NationalAcademy, Ensemble Modern, the BirminghamContemporary Music Group, the Venice Bien-nale, the Albany Symphony Orchestra. He hasreceived commissions from prestigious institu-tions and musicians, including his mentors,George Benjamin and Hans Werner Henze, forwhom he worked as composing assistant forthree years. His music often originates from in-tellectual curiosity and cultural investigations,spanning from meditation on post-modern cul-ture to a confrontation between a southern Italianfolk song and 14th-century polyphony.

Zeno Baldi was born in 1988. He majored incomposition and graduated from the Kun-

stuniversität Graz, where he studied under KlausLang, and the Giuseppe Verdi Giuseppe Conser-vatory in Milano, where he studied underGabriele Manca. He was selected for the Sessionde Composition Voix Nouvelles 2013 (FondationRoyaumont) and ManiFeste Academy 2014 (IR-CAM, Paris). He is active as a composer, performer and sounddesigner for mixed media. His music has been performed at festivals, in-cluding the London Ear Festival, the Rondò (Mi-lano), Firenze Suona Contemporanea (Floren -ce), the MATA (New York), and in venues thatinclude the Royaumont Abbey, Le Centquatre(Paris), Teatro La Fenice (Venice). He has col-laborated with ensembles and musicians, suchas the  Ensemble Intercontemporain, the LineaEnsemble, the Ensemble Zeitfluss, the Diverti-mento Ensemble, the Ex Novo Ensemble, andMarco Fusi, Heather Roche, Manu Mayr, Dome -nico Nordio, Denie Perer and others. He writesworks for acoustic instruments and various elec-tronic devices.

Emanuele Casale was born in 1974. Hestudied double bass with Sebastiano Nicotra,

composition with Eliodoro Sollima, andElectronic Music with Alessandro Cipriani. Hecompleted his musical studies at the VincenzoBellini Istituto Musicale in Catania. He went onto advanced study under Aldo Clementi, Salva-tore Sciarrino (composition), Giorgio Nottoli andBarry Truax (electronic music). He has won thefollowing competitions: the Irino Prize (Tokyo);the Reading Panel (Ircam/Ensemble Intercontem-porain, Paris); the Concours International de Mu-sique Electroacustique (Bourges); the GRAME atthe Centre National de Création Musicale (Lyon);the Academy of Arts Competition (Berlin); firstprize in the “juniores” section and first prize inthe “senjores” section in the International MusicCouncil/UNESCO IREM competition; first prizeat the Frankfurt Opera House competition(presided over by Wolfgang Rihm and GeorgeBenjamin), representing Italy. Emanuele Casalehas received commissions from importantinstitutions and ensembles, among them theFrankfurt Opera House, Ensemble Intercontem-porain, the Oslo Sinfonietta, United Instrumentsof Lucelin, the Venice Biennale, Ensemble Or-chestral Contemporain, Festival Manca. Hismusic has been performed by well-knowninternational ensembles.

Silvia Colasanti was born in 1975. After grad-uating from the Santa Cecilia Con servatory

in Rome, she went on to study with Fabio Vacchi,Wolfgang Rihm and Pascal Dusapin. She re-ceived a master’s degree from the Santa CeciliaNational Academy in Rome, under the guidanceof Azio Corghi. She was the recipient of the pres-tigious Goffredo Petrassi Award. She has wonprizes at numerous competitions in Italy andabroad, including the Musikfabrik NÖ’s Zeitk-lang International Composition Competition inVienna and the Lopes-Graça Prize in Lisbon. Sil-via Colasanti’s compositions have been per-formed at major music institutions in Italy andabroad, including the Santa Cecilia NationalAcademy, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, theOrchestre National de Belgique, Konzerthaus(Berlin), the Venice Biennale, Kuhmon Kamari-musiikki, the Orchestra Sinfonica Giuseppe Verdi(Milano), Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Flo-rence), the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale dellaRAI, the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, theAccademia Musicale Chigiana , and CarnegieHall. Silvia Colasanti has written music for anarray of different formations, including worksfor musical theater.

Matteo Franceschini was born in 1979. Hestudied composition at the Giuseppe Verdi

Conservatory in Milano and received a master’sdegree in composition, under Azio Corghi, fromthe Santa Cecilia National Academy in Rome.He went on to attend the Cursus Annuel de Com-position et d’Informatique Musicale at IRCAMin Paris. He has received commissions from im-portant music institutions, including La Filarmo-nica della Scala Orchestra, the Venice Biennale,the Philharmonie de Paris, Arcal (Paris), the Mi-lano Musica festival, the Accademia Filarmonica(Rome), the Orchestre National d’Île de France,the National Orchestra of Belgium, the FrenchMinistry of Culture, the Reims Opera, and theSaint-Etienne Opera. Since 2006, he has been amember of Agon, one of the most important cen-ters of acoustic and digital musical technologyin Italy.  He has composed works for theater,soundtracks for movies, and multimedia instal-lations. He has been composer in residence atArcal Compagnie Nationale de Théâtre Lyriqueet Musical in Paris (season 2008-2009), the Or-chestre National d’Île de France, and the Phil-harmonic Academy of Rome for seasons 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.

Daniele Ghisi was born in 1984. He graduatedwith a major in mathematics from the Uni-

He has attended seminars and mas-ter-classes at the IEMA, under George Benjamin;Ensemble Modern (Frankfurt, 2005); and VoixNouvelles, under Brian Ferneyhough, MichaelJarrell and François Paris (Royaumont, 2006).He attended IRCAM’s Cursus I and II in Paris.Ghisi has won several competitions and prizes,and has received commissions from the FrenchMinistry of Culture, GRAME, Fondazio ne Spi-nola-Banna per l’Arte, the Venice Bienna le, Roy-aumont, and the Ernst von Siemens Stiftung.Ghisi’s music has been performed by ensemblesand orchestras that include L’Itinéraire, EnsembleModern, musikFabrik, Divertimento Ensemble,Orchestra National de Lyon, Philharmonique deRadio France, Orchestra Regionale della To-scana. Mauro Lanza was born in 1975, where hegraduated from the Benedetto Mar cello

He was selected by the Comité de Lectureof the Ensemble Intercontemporain and Ircamto take part in a course in composition and com-puter music. Lanza went on to worked for Ircamas research composer and teacher, and has beenmainly active in the field of synthesis, where heuses physical models and computer-assisted com-position. Tinged with irony, from the very be-ginning his compositions have been the result ofan ever-increasing effort toward an intimate fu-sion of classical instruments with other, less con-ventional sound sources, such as physical- mod-eling synthesis, toy instruments, noisemakersand various objets trouvé. His music has beenperformed by international groups, including En-semble Court-Circuit, Ensemble Alternance, theUnited Berlin Ensemble, Ensemble l’Itinéraire,Divertimento Ensemble, the Accentus ChamberChoir, the Jeune Chœur de Paris, musikFabrik,the Neue Vocalsolisten, and Les Percussions deStrasbourg.

Marco Momi was born in 1978. He has stud-ied piano, orchestral conducting and com-

Lorenzo Pagliei was born in 1972. He is acomposer, electro-acoustic musician, pianist

and conductor. He has studied under Azio Corghi,Ivan Vandor, Giorgio Nottoli and Salvatore Sciar-rino. After graduating from the advanced coursein composition at the Santa Cecilia NationalAcademy in Rome (chief examiner: LucianoBerio), he moved to Paris for a two-yearresidency the Ircam Comité de Lecture. He hasreceived commissions from Ircam, the PompidouCentre, the Orchestre Philharmonique de RadioFrance, the Orchestra Regionale Toscana, CNRS– Collège de France, the Teatro dell’Opera diRoma, the Santa Cecilia National Academy, andthe Centre Pousseur in Liège. Since 2009 Paglieihas been a research composer at Ircam, wherehe invented Geecos, or electro-acousticinstruments with which the interpreter can controlthe synthesis of sound in real time throughgestures with the hand on certain surfaces instring instrument wood.  In addition to writtenand acousmatic music, he explores numerousother forms of collaborations with artists fromother fields (dancers, sculptors, poets, video-artists, scientists) as composer/performer of elec-troacoustic music.
