CARVER MIDDLE SCHOOL
Dear Carver Parents and Students,
As we rapidly approach the final weeks of another great school
year, we are all planning and implementing many end of the
school year programs, field trips, grade-level activities, semester
exams, and, of course, long-term summer assignments. I am
positive that if you ask any student how many days of school are
left, he or she will be able to tell you. The students are very
excited, and our faculty and staff members are extremely busy
closing this year out and planning for the next school year.
Carver students, this has been a wonderful year, and I thank you
for always putting forth your best effort. As you prepare for
what looks like yet another hot summer for the state of
Oklahoma, I ask that in between all of the movies, vacations,
summer camps, video games, and television shows, you
remember to read. I also ask that you find a way to continue to
practice the math skills that you worked so diligently to learn
throughout the school year. Finally, upon your return to school
in August, remember that Carver is an application school and
that as an application school, Carver Middle School will
continue to have high expectations for student academic per-
formance and behavior.
As always, at Carver, we have an open door policy. Please feel
free to call the school for any assistance or information that you
may need. Carver is your school and your support and
involvement are critical to our continued success.
Have a GREAT summer!
Sincerely,
Melissa. J. Woolridge, Ph.D.

As the year quickly winds down, I look back in amazement wondering where
time has gone. Students and teachers alike are very glad that we are getting out
so early in May, instead of June!
With summer break quickly approaching I hope you and your families will
take time to relax and spend valuable time together. Please assist your students
by factoring in physical activities and healthy eating. Maybe grow a garden to-
gether and enjoy the fruits and vegetables of your labor. Consider daily activities
such as tennis, bicycling, or swimming. Being active helps keep bodies and
minds in shape. Hopefully we will have a summer season that is much milder
than last year!
We are proud the Carver Class of 2012 and wish them success in all of their
future endeavors! We appreciate the help and support from all of the parents
over the past three years! It takes a village to educate the youth!
Have a great summer!
Valarie Farrow,
Carver Assistant Principal
THANK YOU
CARVER FAMILIES
New Marquee Coming this Summer!
This year Carver Families raised just over $24,000 to purchase a new digital marquee for the school. The final meeting with vendors and TPS is scheduled. We hope to have the new Digital Marquee installed this summer.
Thank you for making this a reality at Carver!

Carver Families,
It has been a fantastic year at Carver!
As I wrap up my year serving as Carver’s PTSA President I am amazed at how much we have
accomplished.
• Achieving 100% PTSA Membership
• Communicating from School to Home with Weekly Email, Monthly Newsletters, and
Website Updates
• Hosting Jazz and Jeans - a fantastic even at a new location and record proceeds
• Providing Student- or Parent-focused programs at each Unit Meeting
• Logging almost 1000 volunteer hours since August
• Publishing a Student/Family directory
• Providing Spirit T-shirts and other logo wear sales
• Supporting the Million Word Reader Program with MWR t-shirt program
• Coordinating a Garden Club and three Carver Clean-up/Landscaping Days
• Coordinating the Reflections Program at Carver resulting in five state-level awards
• Providing Student and Staff Hospitality
• Coordinating another fabulous Carver Intercultural Evening, an event that supports our
MYP mission, the Intercultural Interlude and raises some funds for Carver
• Holding multiple fundraisers to provide a fantastic 8th grade formal and other festivi-
ties Raising funds for a new LCD Marquee at Carver - to be installed this summer
All of this and more could not have been accomplished without a fantastic PTSA Board. This year’s
board has been fantastic and a pleasure to work with. Several board members will continue to serve
next year on the board in the same or a different area.
Please take a moment and thank these wonderful parents for their service this year to Carver. Parent
Involvement helps make Carver the best middle school in Tulsa!
Finally, I want to welcome and thank Shelley Cooper for volunteering to serve as next year’s PTSA
President.

son, and tied Thoreau. The Varsity Boys team had their final match against
Mingo Valley on April 30th. The Varsity Girls team posted wins over Edison
and Thoreau, and also tied Thoreau. The JV Boys team went undefeated,

Many thanks to Jay Loegering, Zane Hayes, and Justin Yates for starting the

we are excited about the future of soccer at Carver!
