Following a successful renovation andrebranding effort in 2005-2006,CarusoDrye was retained by the MallOwner to develop signage designsassociated with a cinema expansionprogram in 2009. The new cinemaobstructed views of the mall entrancenecessitating mall and cinemasignage visible from the parking lot tohelp patrons locate the entrance toboth the mall and the cinema. Inaddition, signage was added insidethe mall to identify the egresscirculation to the mall parking andcinema.

Existing sign structures were re-used and mall entrances used boldapplications of paint and graphicsrather than more costly architecturaloptions to bring the project in on timeand under budget. The result was verysuccessful for both the Owner and theCity of Santa Fe.

As part of a comprehensive mall renovation program, Caruso + Drye Design Group was hired to design a new mall logo/logotype and associated interior and exterior signage. The first phase of the program (Interior Signage) included new interior directional graphics, mall restroom identification signage, and Food Court Identification graphics.

The second phase of the program (Exterior Signage) included a new 65’ tall pylon along Interstate 40, site directional signage, and new mall entrance identification signage.

Continuing their long relationship withRegent Partners, CarusoDrye wascharged with development of acomprehensive signage andwayfinding program for this 50 storymixed use development in theBuckhead neighborhood of Atlanta.The project consisted of 25 floors ofClass A Office space, topped by 25floors or premium residential(Sovereign), plus associated parkingdecks for both portions of thedevelopment.

Inspired by the dramatic sculpturalqualities of the building architecture,the primary signage componentsincorporated curvilinear forms anddetails, and a modern upscale feel.

Working with the development team atTishman Speyer, CarusoDrye wascharged with the development of acomprehensive graphics and signageprogram for this 19 story office towerin the heart of Atlanta’s BuckheadCommercial District. The programincluded Interior Building CoreSignage, Parking Deck Signage &Graphics and Site Graphics & Signage.

The signage design was detailed toreflect the iconic swoosh form that isso integral to the buildingarchitecture. The signage alsoreflected the Tishman Speyer designphilosophy of simplicity, lastingmaterials and judicious use of color.

As part of an extensive lobby andfacade renovation program,CarusoDrye was commissioned byTishman Speyer to develop newsignage for the Midtown Plaza ParkingDeck Core, new parking deck entranceidentification signage, renovatedbuilding identification signage andnew lobby signage. Working closelywith the architectural team at MackScogin Merrill Elam, the signagedesign was refined to reflect the cleanmodern lines and color palette of thelobby renovation program.

By focusing budget on key areas of theproperty and critical sign types, thedesign team at CarusoDrye was able tomake a dramatic impact on theappearance and function of theparking deck, while simultaneouslyworking within a limited budget.

The Deacon Tower Expansion Programat Wake Forest University’s BB&T Fieldwas the Second in a Five PhaseProgram aimed at overall improvementand expansion of the stadiumfacilities at Wake Forest. Working closely with the architecturalteam at award winning TrahanArchitects, CarusoDrye developed acomprehensive interior signageprogram that included not only signingfor core building functions, but donorrecognition graphics and LSU AthleticAward signage as well. The wallssurrounding the building entrancesfeature solid bronze panels withwaterjet cut thru graphics honoringthose whose donations funded the$12M renovation of this 1927 eraarmory building. Entering thebuilding, the viewer enters grand hallswith marble clad walls into which havebeen carved the names of LSU’sacademic and athletic champions.The layout and design of the graphicsin these halls were carefully detailedto allow for future additions andgraphically composed to complimentthe architectural context. Donorrecognition graphics throughout thebuilding consisted of pin-mountedstainless steel text, sized andpositioned to correspond with thearchitectural environment andlighting.

The Student Recreation Center atColumbus State University is a state ofthe art facility designed to meetstudent fitness, health andrecreational needs. The $26 million,106,000-square foot facility houses afitness area along with an aquaticcenter. It features two basketballcourts, workout area, two aerobicrooms, free weight area, running track,multi-purpose court, two racquetballcourts, indoor soccer, volleyball, andlarge event area. The Aquatics Centerconsists of a 25 yard lap pool, a onemeter diving board, leisure pool,therapy pool, and sauna.

CarusoDrye, working closely with theArchitectural Team at Lyman DavidsonDooley and the CSU Recreation CenterStaff, developed a comprehensiveinterior graphics and signage programto serve the needs of the new facility.This program included traditionalroom identification and wayfindingsignage, building policy signage,decorative banners, building mappingand miscellaneous graphics toenhance and inform.

As one of the fastest growinguniversities in the nation, KennesawState University had large needs, anda large vision for their new DiningFacility. As the graphics consultant forthe project, CarusoDrye was chargedwith the naming and design of all ofthe food venue logos & signage, andgeneral building signage. Workingvery closely with the architecturalteam at Lyman Davidson Dooley, andthe University’s Development /Marketing Teams, CarusoDrye wasable to carefully integrate the signagewith the interior environment bothaesthetically and functionally. Theproject has been a huge success forthe end user and the University, andhas also been recognized nationallyfor it’s design.

Working closely with the Architectural Team, and the Campus Recreation & Intramurals Team at Georgia Southern University, Caruso + Drye Design Group developed a comprehensive Interior & Exterior Signage program to coincide with the Recreation Center Expansion. Due to a growing student population, the University made the commitment to expand the existing 80,000 sq/ft. facility into a 215,000 square foot, state of the art facility.

The signage program included new signage for expansion areas as well as replacement of existing signage. The program included decorative banners, exercise identificaiton signage, interior directional and wayfinding signage, building policy signage, fitness trail directional and wayfinding signage/maps, etc.

The Clarence Brown ConferenceCenter, located in Cartersville, Georgia(about 35 miles Northwest of Atlanta)is the newest addition to rapidlygrowing Bartow County. Designed byLyman Davidson Dooley ArchitectsAtlanta Office, the 44,000 square footconference center combines thenatural materials and forms of theNorth Georgia Mountains withcontemporary amenities andtechnology. The signage program,designed by CarusoDrye, follows thislead and was carefully coordinatedwith the architectural and interiordesign teams. Signage includedBallroom Identification graphics,meeting and classroom signage, andinterior directional signage to theprimary destinations within thebuilding.

In addition to the functional buildingsignage, CarusoDrye also developeddesigns for LEED Certification signagethroughout the building and aroundthe project campus. This includedsignage highlighting the LEEDattributes of the building as well ascustom parking space identifiers forLow Emission Vehicles and Car Poolspaces.

Situated in theheart of Savannah’s Historic District,the graphics have been designed tointegrate and complement thearchitecture of Moshe Safdie &Associates. Materials for the signageare true to the architectural integrity ofthe building and include stainlesssteel, glass and stone.
