In 1999 Alex Cooks, owner ofCarrollwood’s beloved BBQ restau-rant Alex’s BBQ, started Alex’s Christ-mas for Kids foundation afterpurchasing a few bikes and givingthem to some local, underprivilegedkids for Christmas. Alex was one of 10kids, and as you might imagine, money was tight growing up. Alexnever got a chance to experience wak-ing up on Christmas day and receivinga brand new bike himself, although heoften dreamed about it. In adulthoodhe decided to turn his dream into a re-ality for children in his own backyardand since that day in 1999 Alex has lit-erally helped raise funds for thousandsof bikes to be donated for local kids!

This year alone, Alex helped raiseenough funds to give away 525 bikes!Alex’s Christmas for Kids receives do-nations from his loyal customers

throughout the year to continue thisservice to the community. One hun-dred percent of the proceeds raisedare used to purchase new bicycles. In addition, Alex’s Xmas for Kids col-lects old bikes and donates those toGod’s Pedal Power, another non-profit organization dedicated to thoseless fortunate in our community.

“We’re all very proud of the pro-gram and thankful to everyone whohas given a donation so we can con-tinue with our efforts. We know thechildren, as well as the schools are alsovery appreciative,” says Cooks. Alex’svision for the program has beenachieved and his kindness and gen-erosity is passed along with every bicy-cle given away. He gives the kids andthis community something they canbelieve in, and that’s exactly whatChristmas is all about!

Alex accepts donations yearround and each brand new bike isonly $60! If you are interested inhelping out this worthy cause fornext year just stop into Alex’s BBQlocated at 5362 West Village Drive,Tampa Fl 33624.

These reasons, among many oth-ers, are why when my husband and Iwere looking to buy a new truck wecame to Bill Currie Ford. Comparingthe differences between other makesand models of trucks and listening towhat the salesman had to say, my hus-band discovered exactly what hewanted. We had such a positive experi-ence, from the knowledgeable salesstaff who were able to answer any andall questions we had, to negotiatingthe best possible price for a beautifulnew Ford F-250, Lariat edition – weactually got one of the lowest pricesanyone had paid in the nation at thattime for that particular model.
