ARRIVING AT SCHOOL ON TIME

Carnegie has observed a significant increase in the number of students who are marked

tardy to homeroom class. Students should arrive at school before the warning bell

rings at 7:48 AM, and are to be in their seats ready to begin the school day when the

homeroom bell rings at 7:53 AM. It is important that students be in homeroom class on

time to receive vital instruction and information.

Friday, November 18-22. We request that parents avoid scheduling medical and dental

appointments during their student’s English period on these days so testing may be

completed in a timely manner.

ALLIANCE REDWOODS INFORMATION

Page 6: CARNEGIE NEWS FLASH 11/4/19 · 2019. 11. 4. · Rosie Harrod Hannah Hawkins Julianna Lupina Esha Majhail. Isabella Plesea Anela Ward Carnegie 2 Team (8th graders) – coached by Rick

Below is information about upcoming due dates, fundraising opportunities with Butter

Braid and Boon Supply, and parent chaperones for the sixth grade Alliance Redwoods

science field trip in April.

IMPORTANT DATES

Monday, November 4 – Submit Butter Braid order form and payments to the front

office. You may accept cash or checks (payable to you) from your customers, and then

submit the total amount due for all orders as one check payable to BB West.

Thursday, November 7 – Last day to submit the $200 cash deposit; deposits will be

accepted at the table in front of the MP Room from 7:15 AM – 7:45 AM or in the front

office until 3:30 PM when the office closes.

Wednesday, November 13 – (CORRECTED DATE – your handout stated November 12, on

which there is no school for students!) Pick up Butter Braid items after school from the

front office. Please note: these are perishable items and the school doesn’t have room to

store unclaimed orders. Please ensure that your student has a ride home that

afternoon, as the frozen items can get heavy.

Wednesday, November 20 – Submit Boon Supply paper order forms and payments to

the front office. You may accept cash or checks (payable to you) from your customers,

and then submit the total amount due for all orders in CASH ONLY. Orders will be

shipped to Carnegie a few weeks later for students to deliver to their customers in time

for the holidays.

Wednesday, December 31 – Final day to place a Boon Supply online order.

TWO FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES (Participation is Voluntary)

Paperwork for both fundraisers is available in the front office.

Butter Braids/Cookie Dough Fundraiser – Sixth grade students sell product to friends

and family (door-to-door sales to strangers is discouraged), and students earn $5 for

each Butter Braid and $6 for each cookie dough item sold. Earned funds are applied

directly to each respective student’s balance owed, depending on how much they sell.

Page 7: CARNEGIE NEWS FLASH 11/4/19 · 2019. 11. 4. · Rosie Harrod Hannah Hawkins Julianna Lupina Esha Majhail. Isabella Plesea Anela Ward Carnegie 2 Team (8th graders) – coached by Rick

Orders and payments due November 4, pick up items to deliver to customers on

November 13.

Boon Supply Fundraiser – This fundraiser is available to all Carnegie students. The 40%

proceeds from all sales will be applied to the overall cost of the Alliance Redwoods trip,

reducing each sixth grade attendee’s balance owed by the same amount.

This is primarily an online campaign – the most convenient way to shop is online at

www.boonsupply.com/1000224. Customers place orders and pay with a credit card,

and items are shipped directly to the customer. Student sellers can also register at this

same site to be able to track their orders. Carnegie’s online ID# is 1000224. Share this

fundraiser by emailing the link to the Boon Supply site via email and text to family and

friends. Online orders accepted through December 31.

Optionally, for sixth graders only, there is also a paper brochure and paper order form

available for in-person sales. ** When collecting orders on the paper order form,

remember to collect $1 per item for shipping and $1 per item for tax. ** Payments may be

collected in cash or checks (payable to you), and then submit the total amount due to

Carnegie in CASH ONLY by November 20. Orders will be delivered to Carnegie in early

to mid-December, picked up by students, and delivered to their customers in time for

the holidays.

PARENT CHAPERONES

Please contact Linda Hoffman [email protected] in our front office to have

your name added to the potential chaperone list. To be considered as a chaperone,

parents must have a completed Annual Volunteer Agreement form as well as fingerprint

clearance on file with Carnegie.

If you’ve been fingerprinted at your student’s elementary school, the clearance does

not automatically follow you to Carnegie; Carnegie staff must request it from the

district’s Human Resources department. If you’ve never been fingerprinted with the

SJUSD, you must make an appointment with the Human Resources department and

present a document provided by our front office. There is no cost to you to have this

service done, and it may take up to two weeks to receive results from the DOJ. Please

contact the front office with any questions.
