Dear Parents and Carers, What a big week it has been for Carlton Public School. A new Principal, Kindergarten 2020 transition to school program, Band Blow In, the St.3 Mini Fete and PPSA sport. I would like to thank the staff and students for making me feel so welcome in my first week at the school. While I met many parents and carers at the Mini Fete, I look forward to meeting you all over the coming weeks. Mini Fete I was very proud of Stage 3 and their teachers on Thursday with their very successful Mini Fete. This event saw the community come together to support the student body of Carlton PS. The students activities were thoroughly enjoyed, the food stalls were delicious and as a result of hours of work Stage 3 raised approximately $10000. These funds will support the Year 6 Farewell, the 2020 Student Leadership Team and will see Year 6 purchase a farewell gift for the school. I would like to acknowledge the hard work and organisation of Ms Flowers and her Stage 3 teaching team as well as the parents that contributed to the success of this event. Further to this, I would like to thank the students for their exceptional behaviour and manners throughout the fete. Raise some Dough – P&C Fundraiser On Wednesday, Bexley Domino’s donated $1 to the P&C for every pizza purchased by the community between 11am- 11pm. We thank Bexley Domino’s for their $445 donation to the P&C. Kindergarten Transition It was lovely to meet our Carlton 2020 Kindergarten students and their parents this week. The students who attended had a successful morning, with only a few tears and many smiles! Mrs Milner and her ES1 team did a tremendous job welcoming the pre-schoolers and informing parents of the structure and procedure of the school day at Carlton PS. We look forward to welcoming back all of the 2020 enrolments next week to ensure a positive start to school. Band Blow In Miss Morrison was extremely impressed with the school band and their performance of the Star Wars instrumental on Wednesday at the St George Auditorium, Kogarah. Attendance A reminder that the school day commences at 9am. It is a critical time of the school day as the structure and learning is explained and it is a crucial component of your child’s literacy learning. While we appreciate that some appointments cannot be avoided during the school day, we do request that families ensure their children are at school by 8.45am to socialise and prepare for their school day which commences at 9am. We thank you for your support of this school practice. Returning to School in 2020 In the next few weeks, I will need to submit a revision of our anticipated enrolments for 2020. The accuracy of this information is vital as it affects our staffing entitlements and resource funding by the Department. At present, our projected enrolments for 2020 indicate that we will maintain our current class structure of 33 classes. It is very important that you inform the school if you are not expecting your children to return to Carlton PS in 2020. Many thanks for your support with this important information or if you will returning late due to travel plans. Dear Parents and Carers,

What a big week it has been for Carlton Public School. Mini Fete

I was very proud of Stage 3 and their teachers on Thursday with their very successful Mini Fete. This event saw the

community come together to support the student body of Carlton PS. The students activities were thoroughly enjoyed,

the food stalls were delicious and as a result of hours of work Stage 3 raised approximately $10000. These funds will

support the Year 6 Farewell, the 2020 Student Leadership Team and will see Year 6 purchase a farewell gift for the

school. I would like to acknowledge the hard work and organisation of Ms Flowers and her Stage 3 teaching team as

well as the parents that contributed to the success of this event. Further to this, I would like to thank the students for

their exceptional behaviour and manners throughout the fete.

Raise some Dough – P&C Fundraiser

On Wednesday, Bexley Domino’s donated $1 to the P&C for every pizza purchased by the community between 11am-

11pm. We thank Bexley Domino’s for their $445 donation to the P&C.

Kindergarten Transition

It was lovely to meet our Carlton 2020 Kindergarten students and their parents this week. The students who attended

had a successful morning, with only a few tears and many smiles! Mrs Milner and her ES1 team did a tremendous job

welcoming the pre-schoolers and informing parents of the structure and procedure of the school day at Carlton PS.

We look forward to welcoming back all of the 2020 enrolments next week to ensure a positive start to school.

Band Blow In

Miss Morrison was extremely impressed with the school band and their

performance of the Star Wars instrumental on Wednesday at the St George

Auditorium, Kogarah.

Attendance

A reminder that the school day commences at 9am. It is a critical time of the

school day as the structure and learning is explained and it is a crucial

component of your child’s literacy learning. While we appreciate that some

appointments cannot be avoided during the school day, we do request that families ensure their children are at school

by 8.45am to socialise and prepare for their school day which commences at 9am. We thank you for your support of

this school practice.

Returning to School in 2020

In the next few weeks, I will need to submit a revision of our anticipated enrolments for 2020. The accuracy of this

information is vital as it affects our staffing entitlements and resource funding by the Department. At present, our

projected enrolments for 2020 indicate that we will maintain our current class structure of 33 classes. It is very

important that you inform the school if you are not expecting your children to return to Carlton PS in 2020. Many

thanks for your support with this important information or if you will returning late due to travel plans.

Thanks for a fabulous Mini Fete!

Our Mini Fete was a huge success with great participation from our whole community. Many thanks must go to Miss Flowers and all the Stage Three Teachers for preparing the kids for their big day of fun. We had so many parent volunteers and would like to thank each of you for your contribution to the day!

Special thanks go to the parents who helped on the food stalls and BBQ with special mention to our Stage Three parents who generously assisted with preparing the children for their activities.

Raffle Prize winners were Ali S 6 Yellow, Mihail L 3 Orange and Aarush S 3 Orange! Congratulations Everyone!

On the 22nd of October, twenty-five students from Carlton Public School joined with other primary school students in

NSW to present a special concert – 2019 Chinese Language Spectacular at the Sydney Town Hall. Over 600 students

from 30 schools showcased their talents and Chinese language skills.

Our students have spent their recess and lunch time to have rehearsals since Term 3. The poetry group recited two

poems before the primary school choir’s performance. It was a very successful night, the effort and commitment from

the students has finally paid off. I am sure that our students enjoyed the experience and the parents were proud of

their child’s achievements.

Special thanks to all the parent helpers who attended on the day and assisted with transportation and food purchasing.

Our stage 1 and 2 students have set up their Seesaw account. They have been using this educational platform to

record their Chinese study journey. Parents are welcome to join in the program to monitor their child learning progress

during the year.

Are you interested in cooking Chinese dishes at home? Here are some recipes suggested by our stage3 students.

Have a try!
