CARL SAGAN

• Born in 1934

• The University of Chicago offered him financial support (1951)

• Continued there for grad work, where he received his doctorate. (1960)

• Served two years as postdoctoral fellow in biology at Berkley and Stanford

• Joined the Harvard College astronomy faculty as Assistant proffesor

• Moved to Cornell University in 1968, where he served as David Duncan Proffesor of Astronomy and Director of the Laboratory for planetary studies until he died in 1996
