COUNTER ACTIVE ‘Counteractive’ is a piece, focusing on an active form of communication within a group's attention to how they function within my performance. Representing a composition, or form of expression that acts in opposition to social norms by spontaneously expressing what so happens to represent my method and choice to visually communicate my personal foundation to an ar tistic physical experience, where both the audience and I become ar t.

SHAGHAF The term شغـــف (shaghaf) can best be thought of as “passion”, but it can also mean sensual desire (i.e. lust). Sometimes this term is used to refer to infatuation or the state of being madly in love. E.g. the adjectives شغـوف (shaghoof) or مشـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــغـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــوف (mashghoof) translate as “to be madly in love”.
Love is an important concept for Arabs, so it should come as no surprise that there are many different ways to express love in Arabic, all with slightly different meanings. The strong culture of poetry and song revolves greatly around love. Many believe this developed because of society, culture or religion. Poetry and songs provided an outlet for the passion of lovers and as a result enriched the Arabic language with many nuanced words related to love.
This piece provides a creative outlet for the combination of poetry, song, and art. Where the performance is the process and transition of expression used to create a balance between the working with that limits of the body, and interacting with the sociology of performance. I'm looking into the possibilities of the mind in the interior walls of a p e r f o r m a n c e t o c r e a t e a b o n d b e t w e e n t h e a u d i e n c e a n d m y s e l f .
