For the past 22 years I have just been annoyed when a huge chunk of ice smashed on my windshield. Now that we have a gadget for it, it has gone from momentary irritation to 'problem'. It has always been a problem, and accidents have been caused by the momentary loss of vision and concentration as the snow falls off the roof of a truck onto a car below. Up to now I thought the winter mix windshield splatter was just part of going down the road. Instead one more potential problem has been eliminated. EVER FEEL UNFAIRLY ACCUSED BY OTHER DRIVERS?

Do You Ever Feel Unfairly Accused By A Driver On The Road?...You Might Be I am starting to wonder if there is a crime convention criminals attend each year to come up with new and witty schemes. If there was (I am just assuming and hoping there really isn't one) this particular scheme would be featured by the keynote speaker. Two "gifted" scam artists have been convicted of generating multiple phony claims against truckers for cosmetic damage to their vehicle. NEW TECHNOLOGY OF A DIFFERENT KIND I am reading of a new invention that reduces the buildup of snow and ice on the top of a truck trailer. I have to be honest I never gave it much thought. It does make sense though. Buildup on the top of the trailer:

Increases wind drag which reduces fuel mileage •Would have to be removed by hand requiring exposure to the cold •Can temporarily distract the driver behind you if a large sheet of ice or snow falls on their windshield

So why not? Technology has exploded in the last few years. This has taken even some of the most mundane elements of trucking and brought them to the forefront, as we discover new problems we never even knew existed. Think about it.

Trucks now have metal skirts on the sides and back to avoid drag•Efficiently designed mud flaps are now offered to reduce wind drag•Trucks are fitted with automatic braking systems, automatic collision prevention systems, and tire inflation gear •Drivers now have the option to purchase a $6000 driver seat to provide proper ergonomics •Cameras go into trucks to watch the drivers every movement..and so much more, the new frontier of technology is definitely the trucking industry

And NOW we have snow removal gear for the roof of the trailer? For the past 22 years I have just been annoyed when a huge chunk of ice smashed on my windshield. Now that we have a gadget for it, it has gone from momentary irritation to 'problem'. It has always been a problem, and accidents have been caused by the momentary loss of vision and concentration as the snow falls off the roof of a truck onto a car below. Up to now I thought the winter mix windshield splatter was just part of going down the road. Instead one more potential problem has been eliminated.
