    1. Introduction to the Module and Module Objective

    Careers course aims to provide students with an understanding of skills required to get ajob, do well in a job, an opportunity to develop relevant career management skills, keyissues of career decision making and to equip students with the skills to manage their

    career effectively. The module would deepen the understanding of the forces anddynamics that shape careers. The course entails towards empowerment of students forbetter plan and growth in their career paths.

    The course will help in enhancing a student's interaction with his/her peers though class-room interactions and with industry people and hence will maximize their learning fromeach other's experience and knowledge. The course draws on a variety of resources to meet this goal, including newspaper articles,autobiographical and biographical accounts of others careers, interviews conducted bystudents during the course, and an individual assignment designed to develop and guidestudents thinking about their careers and the tools that will be necessary to realize them.

    At the end of this module, students will: Have learnt about key issues of career decision making

    Have better understanding of self to make effective choices for careerdevelopment

    Have identified skills to prepare better for jobs selection

    Have practiced and developed better skills to do aptitude test

    have learnt about key career management skills that help them keep upwardgrowth path

    have researched a career that they may wish to pursue in the future

    have improved their presentation skills by planning and delivering presentations ingroups.

    5.1- Session 1: Introduction; Dimensions of Careers; Views of Work

    The session focus on the defining career and how one understands its implication. Most of us might think that the key to a successful career change is to know what we want to donext and then using that knowledge to guide our actions. In this session, students will getto know how people from all walks of professional life go about making a careers and alsothat career change is not a step-by-step linear processits twisted and takes much longerthan we think. The session help student understand the different aspects which comeabout while a career is made.

    Learning Outcome:

    Students will learn to be more flexible while choosing their career after MBA as finding thejob that fits best is the result of doing and experimenting

    5.2- Session 2: Importance of career planning

    To identify what career one wants to take, it is also essential that one identifies whatskills one possess and how one should plan it. The session would help student understandwhat they have been in their past and how that influences on to what they are today.Better understanding of their personality profile through psychometric tools and how itmakes an occupational fitment can be useful in planning career decisions which are

    realistic.

    Learning Outcome: Student can understand their competence and plan career choicesbased on their fitment and capability.

    5.3 & 5.4 Session 3 &4: Industry InteractionThe session would involve the participation of industry personnel. The session wouldprovide student with understanding of the industry from where the student come from,along with their experiences and learning as they progressed through their career.

    Learning Outcome: The student will learn from the experience and career journey of experts from different industries.

    5.5- Session 5: Marketing yourself While looking to make a career change, telling stories about professional self can inspire

    others belief in your character and in your capacity. A compelling professional story helpspeople more easily understand where you have been and more importantly understand

    how your experiences tie to your future. In this session, students will know why they needa story and what this story should contain. It would elaborate on how to share experienceto elaborate on competencies .

    5.7- Session 7 : Mentorship through careerHaving a guide to help you crusade through life will help the student better than being ontheir own. To be able to identify and seek guidance for personal and professional growthwould help students. The session will help student understand the importance of such rolemodels in their life and how they can contribute to their success.

    5.8- Session 8: Challenges faced during TransitionThe students will learn about the transition from college to working life that can bechallenging. The session will focus on the support system which is very important.Students will learn ability to collaborate with individuals from different cultures andbackgrounds, to cooperative with diverse personalities, to be a team player, and to workon projects with strict deadlines will all be put to test in your first job.

    The session will provide students to identify the challenges faced during the transitionface from college life to work life 5.9 -Session 9: Guest lecture on ups and down during their careergraph

    5.10- Session 10: Building Resilience

    Resilience is - "The ability to thrive in difficult scenarios, to overcome adversity &bounce back". Resilient people and Managers achieve success even during challengingtimes. The session will cover how can students become more resilient and help their teambuild resilience too. Students will learn practical skills for dealing with the negativeimpacts of adversity more quickly while increasing their learning and ability to deal withchange and challenges in the work environment.

    Learning OutcomeThis session will provide students with new insight and the opportunity to create an actionplan to increase their "bounce back ability" which would help thrive in the challengingtimes ahead.

    5.11 -Session 11 : Performing well in first 100 days of your job

    5.13- Session 13: Managing a Diversity at workplaceToday most of the organizations have a diverse workforce so everyone in anorganization should learn to appreciate and embrace diversity to reducefriction, missed opportunities, customer and client complaints, service deliveryproblems, etc. This session is aimed at helping students understand whydealing with diversity would be beneficial to them as employees.

    Learning OutcomeStudents will develop conceptual understanding to diversity and its differentforms and would learn different tools to deal with diversity at the workplace.

    5.14 -Session 14: Integration of Work and LifeThis session focuses on Work life integration, finding ways to blend work andlife so that students can have meaningful experience with both of them. To

    succeed in the corporate world it is essential to create a balance as there aretimes when there can be a dis-balance, to provide students with those skillscan help student to be better equipped with their future careers.

    Learning OutcomeThis session will help the students to understand the state of balance andharmony between the professional and personal roles in ones life.

    Details of Assessment:-

    7.1 Component 1: Presentation (30%)

    This assessment is based on interview interaction and the questions which are asked in aninterview. This would be based on the critical points shared during the course. The studentshould be prepared to tell his story in manner which highlights his competencies andpersonality in a positive manner and attacks recruiters to higher them. During the course

    of this interaction a feedback would also be shared on the CV submitted.Component 2: An individual written assignment to reflect on career decisionMaking (50%)

    Assessment Brief

    The ability to identify your skills and development needs is a key strength when makingcareer decisions and planning your future career. The purpose of this assignment is toencourage you to consider your skills, reflect on your learning, and analyse various careeroptions available to you and then accordingly work on action plan that would direct you toachieve your career goals.

    Your TaskYou are required to submit an assignment of no more than 1500 words (appendices will betreated as being outside the word limit) providing answers to the three key questions,below:

    1) Considering the decisions you have made so far about your career choice, explainwhat has influenced your decisions, including:

    Family Background

    Your academic achievements

    Any key individuals involved (i.e. people drawn from your family, friends, school,college, university, etc)

    Anything else that you feel is of relevance

    (Approx 400 words)

    2) Analyse and evaluate your individual learning throughout the Careers module

    What you have learnt about yourself (skills abilities, qualities, motivations)

    Career options available

    What has been most beneficial to your learning (i.e. contacts, resources etc.)

    How you have approached your learning and how you have consolidated thislearning (i.e. how your ideas are developing)

    3) Create an Action Plan for the next 3 years, indicating the steps you will take to

    8. Format for Submission of Coursework

    All assignments must be submitted according to the deadlines specified. Failure to submitsame without a justified reason shall result in zero marks. Submissions are to be made inhard copy/ soft copy as instructed by the faculty.

    When submitting coursework in hard copy, you must include a cover page which specifies:
