Queen’s University Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, is seeking a qualified Hematologist to fulfill the role of Clinician-Scholar. The Division of Hematology at Queen’s University provides clinical care to a large catchment area with specialty clinics and has an active subspecialty training program. Members of the Department of Medicine enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a generous benefit plan. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

In addition to a major focus of providing exemplary clinical service, the successful applicant must demonstrate strong potential for teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level, engage in collaborative research and contribute to the administrative functions of the University and hospitals. The successful applicant must demonstrate strong leadership skills in an academic or hospital setting and he/she would be expected to provide evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment, excellent communication skills and a strong academic portfolio. The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services–Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for the position of Pediatric Otolaryngologist – Head & Neck Surgeon at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Required qualifications include an MD, Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery and fellowship training in Pediatric Otolaryngology, along with eligibility for licensure in the province of Alberta. Special consideration will be given to candidates with additional training in medical education, clinical epidemiology, and/or applied research.

The successful candidate will become a member of both the Section of Pediatric Surgery and the Section of Otolaryngology. Leading and developing research protocols related to clinical outcomes or medical education is expected. Committee duties and active participation in the Sections is also required.

The successful candidate will also be expected to have a clinical appointment with the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, and to participate in medical student and resident teaching. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in the Otolaryngology on-call schedule according to both Alberta Children’s Hospital and Alberta Health Services policies.

Ross Memorial Hospital is a 175 bed hospital situated in the heart of the City of Kawartha Lakes, and is an active, acute-care community hospital servicing more than 80,000 local residents and seasonal visitors. Among our acute and continuing care services, our team cares for 45,000 patients per year in the 24/7/365 Emergency Department, provides orthopaedic, ophthalmic and general surgery, operates a Dialysis Unit, and is renowned for its Mental Health programs and restorative Seniors Care. The most recent expansion included the addition of MRI and Cardiac CT service. The Ross Family works together with patients and their families to provide compassionate, quality patient care.

RMH offers a competitive compensation package for our Chief of Hospitalist Medicine. As the Chief, you would be expected to work 14 days every month. You would sit on the Medical Advisory Committee. You would work with the Chief of Staff and the Vice President Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer to provide quality patient outcomes. A position description is available upon request.

As a Hospitalist, you may join the 7-day or 5-day model providing comprehensive care to 20 inpatients, starting on a Monday or a Tuesday. Approximately 60% of the patients will be acute medical patients, and the remainder, chronic. The hospital will submit billings on your behalf, and 100% of billings will be paid to you, along with a daily stipend.

Qualifications:The successful candidate will be collegial, enthusiastic, progressive and have recent experience in the care of hospitalized inpatients. The Chief Hospitalist may have Internal Medicine or Family Medicine training, but must have experience in the care of hospitalized patients. The candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in teams, with physicians, nursing staff, patients, Directors and Managers. ACLS training and an unrestricted CPSO license are required.
