Search for jobs more efficiently, build a successful resume and cover letter, and learn how to nail your next interview using the strategies found here. Career TransitionsFind a New Job

This area includes activities and information that will help you if you are actively looking for a job, getting ready to look, or just want to see what's out there. Search for jobs more efficiently, build a successful resume and cover letter, and learn how to nail your next interview using the strategies found here.

Section 1: Search Jobs, Internships and More

If you're ready to dive right in to job postings, this should be your first stop. You can search for jobs by title, keywords and location. If you're early in your career or considering a change, you can also search specifically for internships, apprenticeships, entry-level and temp jobs. As a registered user, you can also save jobs of interest with the My Jobs feature to easily find them again later.

Your resume has all the basics of your career story, but a great cover letter can help you stand out to potential employers on a more personal level. This section offers a step-by-step tutorial, as well as advice and strategies, for writing your new cover letter.

Suggestion: Go to Write a Cover Letter and get familiar with the Cover Letter Examples and the Related Articles and Related Videos. Remember to check the Get Help links for guidance as you go through.

Section 4: Tips & Advice

Read Tips & Advice in many different categories, such as Job Searching, Applying, Interviewing, Networking and Career Strategies. Short feature articles and videos will provide you with valuable information and ideas to spur your job and career efforts.

Suggestion: Check back in this area as you complete other activities in Career Transitions. Finding the right job can be a lengthy process, and our Tips & Advice will help you every step of the way.

This section offers an interactive approach to preparing for work or school interviews. Practice answering behavioral interview questions using the proven STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method and get feedback on your answers, so you'll be sure to ace your next interview.

Suggestion: Repeat the Interview Practice application as many times as you like. You'll learn by doing and gain confidence and skills that will reduce the stress of interview situations and increase your chances for success!

Discover a New CareerThis area is for you if you want to learn about and explore new careers. You can get an idea of which fields are likely to add jobs in the coming years, and discover careers that are suited to your own personal interests and experience. This area also provides information about education and training opportunities at more than 8,000 schools, both online and offline.

Section 1: Assess Your Career Interests

Take a simple and quick survey about whether you would like or dislike certain work to find careers that would be a match for you in the real world! You can also filter by interest category and the amount of experience or education needed for certain careers.

Suggestion: Take the interest assessment along with a friend or group, and compare your results. Don't forget to click the Career links to get more information about specific careers.

Explore the U.S. Dept. of Education's 16 Career Clusters to find Career Pathways, and learn about Green and Emerging careers. If you're interested in finding a specific career, narrow your search based on growth rate, job category and salary.

Suggestion: Browsing through the Clusters and Pathways is a great way to get a sense of what's out there, especially if you're not committed to a specific career path just yet, or are considering multiple options. If that describes you, keep an eye out for the "A Day in the Life" interviews series with people in 145 different careers.

Section 3: Match Your Experience to New Careers

This section can help you if you have previous work experience or have served in the military, but are looking to transition to something new. Just choose work or military experience, and begin typing a position you've held. If you don't get an exact match, select the closest match from the search assist — the results will be careers that generally require similar skills, knowledge and experience to yours (based on data from the U.S. Dept. of Labor).

Suggestion: While some match suggestions may not be as relevant as others, the results will usually cover a number of different industries and career paths that you may not have considered.

Section 4: Search Schools and Programs

Access information about schools and specific educational programs, and browse a library of hundreds of online education courses from ed2go, a leading distance learning provider. You can search by career or program using our assisted search, or simply click the ed2go button to browse options in your area.

Suggestion: Browse results based on cost, type of school and type of program and dive deeper using links to school websites. Don't forget to click the Show Map link on the results page to see where the schools are located exactly.

The Daily Leap Blog and Featured Videos

The Daily Leap features advice articles from career and employment experts. They cover a broad range of topics, and several new ones are published on Career Transitions each week. Click the "Browse more blog articles" link to visit the Daily Leap Blog, where all of the Daily Leap articles since July of 2009 are available to read.

Featured Videos cover various career and employment subjects, with new ones added on a regular basis.

Suggestion: The Daily Leap makes Career Transitions a resource that job seekers and people seeking career advice can go back to frequently, and always find fresh content that's relevant to a variety of interests and life situations.
